Japanese Hot Toilet Seats

When I came to Japan for the first time, I found out that mostly Japanese use hot toilet seats. Everybody has it at home!? Also it will automatically wash your butt for you!!!! Wow, thats AMAZING!! So I wanted one for myself. I bought it few weeks ago. It just arrived yesterday. I was SO HAPPY, I wanted to share this with everyone. I bought it at this Japanese online shopping service site. I am posting in thier forums too. You should try the hot toilet seats!!!

The possible connection of the OP to a toilet seat company aside tis a good topic.

I remember the comfort of going to the bog in Japan.

In the west I had the pleasure of a freezing cold wooden toilet seat, joy.


Though there were a few times I needed to go to the loo and the public lavvy's only had Japanese style toilets.
 
I have one in my home as well. Nice to have in the middle of winter on those chilly mornings when you're dropping the kids off at the pool.
 
My parents have one at their house. Those are kind of weird but nice. Especially, when you don't have central heating system which most Japanese houses don't, it gets really cold in the bathroom.
 
The toilet seat only warms your buttocks,can't think of any other benefit it yields.

Humm??

Is it hooked into house AC power, or battery operated? I guess if a male user were "big" enough, he could warm other parts of his body beside his butt.

Considering that Japanese homes typically lack central heating and that there is often no heat at all after everyone goes to be, every little bit counts.

I hazard a guess that you spend all winter sat on the toilet with a good book when not at work.

Holland is colder than many parts of Japan, so going by that logic we need a few million of those too!!
I found it very weird at first, then I started to like it.. But after I got used to it and the novelty wore off and I find it a waste of energy!! I mean, it's not like I sit many hours per day on the toilet..
 
this is an odd subject

mind you it gets really cold in wales so we could do with one of those sounds nice

mind you it would proberbly course a fight as to who got in there first

well i have a question i read in a book that Japanese toilets are squat and face in the opisite direction to westen toilets is this true and what exacly does round the wrong way and squat mean

why do i get the feeling i'm going to regret this question
 
I love those toilet seats. It's hard to poo when the seat is freezing cold.

You don't sit; you squat. Facing the same direction as you were when you walked up to it.

Brakes for slowing down on curves.

Seriously, though, my guess is either the flushing mechanism, or perhaps something to operate a stinktrap-flap in the bottom if this is not a flush toilet (yes, they still exist here).
 
i still don't get how you sqaut that would take some working out

and no flush and ow man thats one thing japanese i could never get used to NEVER

Since the one in the photo has a water tank, it is a flush model.

In fairness, the non-flush toilets are rapidly disappearing and it is unlikely you would ever encounter one if you came here.

thankyou that explination is very clear

they don't er have many of these toilets in japan anymore do they

it's just well i plan on living in Japan some day and i just don't think i could use one of those
