Does anyone know where I can find a Japanese dictionary for PC? I have an electronic dictionary from Japan, but the problem is that when I look up words from English to Japanese, it does not display ofurigana. I'm hoping there's one on the net that I can just download.

I don't want to use the browser dictionaries because I've never found a good one. If I can't get a English/Japanese dictionary on my computer in software form though, I'll use a browser dictionary if anyone can suggest a good one.

Rikaichan (a rollover dictionary plugin for firefox) works quite well for me. I also own an electronic dictionary (Sharp M4000) and the DS kanji jiten, but I rarely use them anymore.

this HAS been covered before - have a look at stardict, provides rollover and lookup translations .
Runs on:
OS X
Windows
Linux
*BSD
Solaris
Handles HEAPS of languages and a few different dictionary formats!

WaKan shows kana/romaji (depending on setting), kanji WITH ofurigana and english meanings.

Which one of these does not requrie the internet to function??
JWPce doesn't require an internet connection as the EDICT dictionary file is usually downloaded with the program. I use my denshi-jisho instead though.

I did use EBWin for a while, but it's a bit hard to set up as you have to download numerous files.

The best program I used was actually some russian program but I forget what it's called...sorry >< Maybe Hadaka knows it.

As for websites:
To search Edict go to www.csse.monash.edu.au/~jwb/wwwjdic.html.
To search the almighty Eijiro, go to www.alc.co.jp.

That's cool. So do I just download part one and two and then I can put it on my computer? If so: Neat.
