Temple  Ennoji Temple

For us, family celebrations were a little off from the usual new year schedule. One of our daughters and her family were back over xmas week, then on to his family for new years. But we had a big get-together on the 27th, at my wife's sister's place. Her husband, now retired, worked in fisheries/fishing and has some connections, scoring a lot of crabs for cheap. So even tho these are a little dated, a couple pics.

A couple of the boxes, and one left for show where we were eating.


 
Thanks, @johnnyG, that's most interesting! On the right, it's Fukumitsuya's top-notch premium sake range. I'm not familiar with the Kaga breweries on the left, including 常きげん. Noted.
 
Their main/original operation is over near Toyama, but there's apparently a nice showroom here in Ishibiki. I go by there maybe a couple few times a month--but rarely get near the other one in higashi-yama (tourist area).

Very artsy. You could try using Photoshop or Lightroom to remove the reflections, but it's a lot of work.
 
You might be surprised to learn that I don't use (subscribe to) PS or LR. I edit pics exclusively in Apple Photos. I do have a usable version of pixelmator pro and occasionally try it, but haven't learned how to do much with it--it's usually open it, try something, and quickly realize how much I don't want to learn another program. And even with my good/real camera, (gulp) I shoot jpegs, not raw.

I spent the past few days saving some of these guys:

That is the Eastern Japanese common toad (Bufo japonicus formosus, アズマヒキガエル). It seems their spring breeding migration has started, and sadly, many are killed while crossing roads at night.
 
Picked up some California-grown dekopon mikan at Costco. About $1 each but the grocery store is charging $2 or $2.50 each.

 
Ramen tonight. I messed up because I thought toppings were additional but you could add additional toppings so I ended up with normal toppings plus a set of all toppings. I also messed up because it was a Yuzu seafood tonkotsu broth which I didn't like as much as what I would normally get (miso).
