Japan Photos 2025

edit: @mdchachi Thanks for the tip!!! I'll look for that in Photos (on laptop) since that's where I edit. I almost never edit on the phone.

I thought PS, LR, etc were all subscription now?

By laptop you mean macbook? It should work if you have MacOS 15.1 or greater.

That's what I thought too. I hate to pay a regular fee for something I rarely use.

Current machine is a 3-4(?)-yr old powerbook, M1 pro, on 15.5, which ticks along fine for what I do, so it should be there. Just something that I hadn't realized is there yet! (And I'll be looking for this, thanks.)

I've intentionally restricted myself to what's free (in the apple universe). Not all the bells and whistles, but that's where I draw the line.

With the rain over the last couple days, I looked for more fungi-laden sticks on the ground, but didn't find too much. But this is one part of the area, plenty green and wet, conducive to growth.

And, to a place where I know there are flowers. In the first, that bud to the right almost seems more interesting than the flower.

Food delivery robot waiter on its way to deliver my breakfast. Before my delivery the robot stopped at that guy's table and it was stuck since he didn't respond. A human stepped in and she couldn't wake him even after repeated okyakusan...okyakusan.... and even touching his arm. She put the food down in front of him and he sort showed some awareness that it was there but then slipped back into his coma.

Very very nice, but I don't use facebook...

"Tama Shobō" (多摩書房), often referred to as "Tokyo's westernmost bookstore" (東京で一番西の端にある本屋さん), was prominently featured on various blogs and websites. They were located close to Futamatao Station (二俣尾駅) on the Ōme Line, along the Ōme Kaidō, and not far from Sawanoi Sake Brewery. Here's another view from X.

It's great when technology solves real problems. This electronic department store signboard contains potentially life saving real-time information. Not only does it tell you where the restrooms are, it tells you which ones have open stalls.

How's the Jimbocho area doing for books these days? Long ago ('86-87) I had a part time job teaching at a small publisher in that area. Great places to go drinking, too. And of course all the music stores on the way down from Ochanomizu.

Good question. I don't think I've been there in over 20 years.

Fascinating shots, @johnnyG! I love the old スピルカ bottle (took me a while to understand it's r-l).

I couldn't find the meaning of ビタカル in リスビタカルカレー. It is a mystery lost to time... Though it could mean vitamin-calcium.
