Japan Photos 2024

The three just above are too similar, should probably just choose one. And to go all touchy-feely, and there are various versions of this, attributed to the Navaho. I think I've had this version since the 70s:

I walked the "Miura Alps" with a friend yesterday (I will probably write a short journal entry later). Here are a few impressions from a splendid and unnaturally warm December day.

The Grave (or rather, cenotaph) of Adam Williams, British navigator and first foreign samurai, of "Shogun"-fame. The entire area is called Anjin-zuka (安針塚), Miura Anjin (三浦按針) being Williams' Japanese name (anjin 安針 means "pilot" or "navigator").

I hope I won't get banned for doing this but this is actually from 2006. But I think it's still plausible to see this in 2024.
A cucumber with various types of miso to dip it in. A perfect side dish in June.
(I just put all my photos on a "private cloud" in my house making them much more accessible. So now my life's project is to better organize these 20,000 photos and scan in my old negatives and my Dad's old slides as well. I just hope I can do all this before I die.)

 
We had something like that last night--but a less gourmet version. Only a single type of miso, blended with mayo, as a dip for broc, snap beans and cuke.

Not very good exposure, but it was sprinkling and I was hurried. Lots of these still around, most seem to be tied/propped up or supported by a rod/stick of some kind, these weren't.

Re-did this, will leave the one above up as penance. Generally, the camera has too many settings, and if I don't think/prep enough--just leaving things as they were from the previous time (in this case the photometry/metering setting), things don't come out as well as they could.

Above is center weighted (or was it averaging?), which I then tried to fix. This one is spot, with only the highlights rolled back a little. the stems could be lighter, but I guess you can't have everything.

These are from 6-7yrs ago, late november. Pretty common sight around here for this time of year.

These are actually the same place--look carefully at the right edge of the first, and the left edge of the second,
