japan drivers license still valid?

hi,
i am no longer resident in japan, but i have a jp drivers licence from my previous residency. The end date of my jp drivers licence is still valid, and i'd like to drive while i'm on holiday in japan next month, but of course the address on my licence is not valid (as i dont live in japan anymore).
can i use the license?

I would think you can. Just drive carefully enough not to get caught, and be careful if you sign a rental car agreement. They may want to see the address on your license match the one in your passport.

I would imagine that technically it is invalid, for the reason you put forth yourself.

I have no idea what would happen if you got pulled over. I can't remember if they asked me to show them my gaijin card when I got pulled over for speeding a couple of years ago. If they ask you for it but obviously you don't have one, it might be trouble for you.

If you do drive with it, just drive responsibly, and chances are it won't be an issue. I'd love to give you info on renting a car here, but I have never had to do so yet.

According to the advice at http://tinyurl.com/2vc2p3 it is still valid, although you won't be able to renew it without updating your address.
