Japan ranks among the countries with the most public holidays worldwide, with 16 public holidays in 2024. In 2023, there were more dates when a public holiday fell on a Saturday than in 2022. However, in 2024, only one public holiday falls on a Saturday. There are also five more days when a public holiday falls on a Sunday, and Monday is a substitute holiday. This is excellent news for those off on weekends and public holidays.
