Is it true that these nations were once barbaric?

How do you define "barbaric"? I think all humans alive today are descended from barbarians. If there were any tribes that were peaceful and not barbaric, they were long ago killed off by the barbarians.

I concur. We still strive for material possessions and kill each other over it, disregard nature and its creatures, plunder the planet and its resources and live as if there was no tomorrow. We are still barbarians.
