Are you asking for permission or something?

Doesn't really matter where, it's probably seen as disrespectful to the teacher. I stick to mints if I need to stay fresh.

Do you mean if you are the teacher or student? Both are very rude but teacher far more so as they talk for a living and everyone is focusing on them. Especially awful if the teacher prevents students from chewing while doing it themselves.

I don't see why that would be a problem, as long as you don't chew loud, or blow balloons. Now, that would be a whole different matter.

umm I think its rude
voted for no
but I've done it many times without getting caught
and I'm not proud of it

I voted for the third option because I simply don't know!

I think it should be allowed in some cases. As long as you aren't chewing gum like this I don't mind:

Chewing gum may help to make people smarter by improving memory and brain performance, research suggests.

In tests, scientists found the ability to recall remembered words improved by 35% among people who chewed gum.

My answer no...

It's pretty much disallowed to chew gum in class. It is disrespectful toward the teacher. I mean he asks you a question and some people while chewing gum might answer this way: *chew loudly* Yeah *chew* The answer is *chew* Yes... *chew again* Does it really sound like a serious answer? I don't think so...

It is possible to conduct oneself in such a way that does not hinder the teaching process, whilst chewing gum.

I personally see no problem with it, as long as you are not loud with it, and it finds its way to the trash, what is the problem, really if you cannot chew gum and listen to your teacher at the same time, you probably aren't that good of a student anyway, and some gum should be the least of the teachers worries then. Then again, I don't often chew gum in class, nor do I text, or sleep in class, I just kind of sit there doodling or thinking about something other than what the teacher is talking about.

I remember back in the old days (10 years ago...) we were not allowed to chew gum in the classes, but still when you looked under the table it looked like this:

I said no even though I'd proberly still do it in a subdued manner, however after I'm done I would my gum in the rubbish bin whereas others would put them.. everywhere else. That for me is more of a problem.

This is just bad manners. Parents failed to make a decent human being out of their child, so this is the product. Chewing gum is allowed in the streets, and yet, you stumble upon them every so often on the street. Disgusting creatures.
