Is a shy American worthless in the eyes of japanese?

I know japanese girls and guys get all excited in meeting talkative outgoing americans or foreigners. But what if i went to japan? here in america, when there is a bunch of japanese and they see me, they are not interested in me at all they don't even look at me. I have a feeling i would be nothing but a piece of trash right?

And that's even if we know japanese and even if we attempt to talk .

Look,I don't want to come off as rude and blunt here.East Asians are not into Hispanics or another race other than Westerners period.Phillipinos are the only Asian nationality deeply influenced by Spanish therefore are typically warm toward Spanish-speaking people.

Some Japanese in Japan get excited about westerners because they don't see many of them and therefore they seem exotic. It's not that way for Japanese people in America.

Maybe you should change [Japanese Girl] to [Any girl]... you have to be outgoing to meet people sometimes... And like JimmySeal said, you're just another guy in the USA... in fact you're the status quo.

I do not want to seem rude but, what kind of reaction are you expecting to get? You have to display something interesting before anyone can be "interested" in you. I get this kind of reaction from everyone, regardless of race, until I win them over with my sense of humour and/or boobies.

as long as you're "exotic" and presentably attractive, color/race will not matter to Japanese girls or any girls in most countries. sadly enough, to girls a good looking guy is more deserving of attention and conversation than an exotic or "nice" guy.

while race plays a factor, it depends more on who you are individually than many of you are taking for granted. Japanese girls like asian guys, they like white guys, they like black guys, they like hispanic guys... just as long as they are attractive.

Do you really believe someone Japanese or East Asian would welcome a 20-something European young man staying at her home for 3 weeks only known that person for several months over the internet if he has been a Hispanic male or Arab,dream on ? !

I suspect the Japanese are very much like the English when it comes to dealing with strangers, especially when in their own country. Neither will usually initiate a conversation with a foreigner. In England they won't even speak to a stranger, even if they are English. I have found Americans outgoing and more likely to speak to you, whether in their own country or another. The English, and I get a feeling, the Japanese, are more reserved when dealing with strangers. It isn't personal, just a cultural thing that you have to get used to. Remember someone in a foreign country, even if they speak the same language, have different manners when dealing with strangers. Don't expect everyone to be as outgoing as yourself.

Most men and women for that matter are in that middle range of called "presentably" attractive and prefer a partner at a simliar aesthetic level.
Very few of are so unbecoming beyond remedy or too beautiful to have ever gotten a normal date.

Besides what you are calling exotic or cute or attractive or whatever is heavily culturally dependent. If racism were nothing more potent than being seen as unattractive models would be leaders in the fight for civil rights and justice worldwide...

This forum gets more and more superficial and absurd every day.

The situation you describe is something I've seen happen several times, always with happy results. There's reality, and then there's that little world inside your head - work out which is which and you might be alright in future.

I'm exactly the same (but Australian). While I'm out of the street if you are a stranger, I'm not likely going to talk to you - you are a stranger after all. There was a topic about this on a different forum about foreigners greeting other foreigners, and people complaining "why don't they talk to me?". If I don't know you, is there a reason why I should? If there was, I would talk to you, otherwise I wont...

I second Ewok, If I dont know you, and have no good reason to know you, chances are I wont try and know you, and if you come up to me without a good reason, I'll be as polite as possible but most likely carry on with my own bussiness and eventually part ways, and if you follow me, then good luck, because you'll be getting a policeman's hand on your shoulder.

In Britain random pointless socialising in public is just not done, could be for many reasons, I'de like to think its mainly because its wierd and why should you tolerate a complete and utter stranger trying to impose themselves on your life when your just minding your own bussiness?.

Thats not to say were completely antisocial, I made a friend from a bloke I had a banter with while waiting for a job interview, I make mates with every strange bloke that another mate of mnie introduces.

But yeah, comming up to someone on the street?....thats a no-no.

If you think of yourself "as a piece of trash" and are convinced that you are, you will put out those vibes and others will just see you as "a piece of trash" and try to avoid you.

The old saying, "If it walks like a duck, talks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it is a duck" holds true in this case.

What you need to do is first change your opinion of yourself and have confidence in yourself. Then I think others will begin to see you in a different light.

This post might be totally biased as I do not know the race of this poster, but I assume he is Caucasian. FYI, hispanics are people who speak Spanish and some related languages. That means that Spaniards, Mexicans, Peruvians, Brazilians, Italians, Argentinians and so on are considered hispanics. I am aware that Spain, Italy and Latin America is considered Western to some extent. So don't be making generalizations that you are not sure of. And I might add that there are many Whites in Mexico and Latin America, so you just took the word 'hispanic' and replaced it with, you know, the Mexican stereotype (fat, moustache, sombrero, etc.)

Same in Portugal and I'm guessing every other western country. In all my life, only two people started talking to me just like that, one about football and other about dog contests (I was like.. what!?), my first reaction was: oh noes, some crazy guy is trying to talk to me. *tries to politely run away*
People are just not used to, so it's not socially acceptable.

I might add that you might have an inferiority complex. A person who thinks of himself as worthless is going to pass on that vibe to others and others will feel that negativity of you.

So my advice is keep up, go to the psychlogists for instance, no shame in that. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with being shy and all as long as the shy person is ok with it and accepts himself just the way he/she is! But, it seems that this shy/worthless thing is a makor problem of yours.
