I Bet I Know your name in japanese

hey, i'm back again. i told my dad about my name in japanese, he thought it was cool, but he wanted to know how to pronounce my full first name (Sydney) rather than my nickname (Sadee). Any idea how to say "Sydney"? And for my dad's name, he's going by Dani-san and his name is Daniel. Is that right? we just moved here, we don't know what's going on, lol. Anyway, thanks for all your guys's help, it's really useful. i actually talked to this one girl in the store yesterday, introduced myself as Sadii Sutakkaa, now i dont sound like a total freak lol.

Thanks again!

Sydney would be シドニー (Shidonii), and your dad's name in katakana would be ダニエル (Danieru).

thanks so much, seriously, you're really helpful. might make my dad feel more..."respected"...right now he thinks "Dani" sounds like a dog's name or something lol.

as opposed to sounding like he's being called "danielle"?

Actually, "dani" is an insect sort of like a dust mite or something.

I don't perceive any hostility here. Am I missing something?

I'm not really sure what the "bet" was that Gaijinian was talking about, but it sounded kinda...I dunno...like he/she was in a bad mood or something. Maybe I took it the wrong way, it's hard to judge over the computer...then again maybe not.

if i were to put my opinion in, "Danieru" doesn't sound like "Danielle" really. lol if it does, dont tell my dad that.

doinkies isn't familiar with Polish pronunciation so I don't know how your first name would be written in katakana, but probably your last name would be written マルコ (Maruko).

*resists urge to make "Chibi Maruko-chan" joke XD*

How does one prenounce Nurizeko in Japan?. 👍

I'll have a stab myself:

neurezekow.

Behold my awsome skillz!.

Nah i'll be serious now...

Christopher Stephen Sheppard.

Douzo.

Christopher Stephen Sheppard is クリストファー・スティーブン・シェッパード (Kurisutofaa Sutiibun Sheppaado). ^^

私の姓は日本語で醸造者です。面白いですか? そして、私は里絵子(恋人)を結婚しますなら、彼女の名前は「里絵子醸造者」になります。

ダニ (dani) means tick or vermin in Japanese, but Danny in Japanese would be ダニー (Danii) which would not be confused with dani if pronounced correctly.

I've found that the Japanese people I know pronounce ダニエル with the emphasis on the first syllable even when saying the name Danielle, so there's probably nothing to worry about in this case.

Ok, I just realized that the exchange concerning the above took place in May. My position remains the same nonetheless.

Katarzyna Malko will be
カタルズィナ マルコ kataruzina maruko

Catherine/Katherin (in English) will be
キャサリン or キャスリン kyasarin/kyasurin

The funny thing is most Japanese I talked to made the effort to prenounce my name properly, much as I did theres. 👍

i have both english and chinese name(i have a bilingual education).
english: Lester Tan
chinese: 陳宏全

I understand that the japanese version of my english name is レースタ.タン. but due to the many kanji pronounciations, i cannot find the 'correct' pronunciation for my chinese name, which i intend to use as my japanese name. i tried to search for that 'kanji list for name' sort of list, but cannot find it. can anyone tell me the pronunciation of 陳宏全 in japanese? 陳 is my surname. if there're multiple readings, just list down all of them. thanks.

陳宏全 can be pronounced ちん・こうぜん in Japanese.
