How to use わけ at the end of a sentence?

I often hear people use わけ at the end of the sentence as a question,
but I don't really understand how to use it.

For example,

お互たがいに憎み合っているというわけ?

It means "Do you mean~?" or "Does that mean~?"

I like to think of it as "are you telling me~?" But I'm sure there are a myriad of ways to translate it.

I've had problems with using わけ correctly too. I feel like sometimes I use it too much or not quite in the right places, even though it could work and shouldn't cause any misunderstandings.

I think ～ってこと？ is more frequently used in a similar situation.
