How to Prepare for College in Japan?

Hello! I've decided to get a head start on my future involving college, and I think Japan would be my best choice. I hope to attend The Department of Letters at Rikkyo University on the Ikebukuro Campus, but I don't know the exact requirements - mainly financial ones. I've heard that studying in Japan is more of a 'pay-at-once' type deal, thus making part-time jobs useless for somethings.
This summer I plan to develop my proficiency in hiragana and katakana as that is required for Rikkyo so that will be of no issue, but I would like to know about cost, entrance exams, resident cards, and how to save money for this. Thank you!

Have you checked out the list of links for international students on Rikkyo's home page and/or contacted their international office? They probably have a packet of materials they would be glad to mail to you that would walk you through the process.

Thanks! I honestly should have noticed that before. Then again, what did I expect from research at like 1 a.m.?

They have over the course of many years safely steered a considerable number of foreign students through the process so it is a pretty good bet they have a package put together with information and are old pros at it. We're here and happy to help with whatever we can, but when it comes to such specific info it is always best to go ahead and get it right from the horse's mouth.
