How to change my last name?

So a little background: I married my husband (a Japanese national) at the end of May, and I have my spousal visa and everything.

I would like to change my last name to his. I've tried figuring out how to do this online, but all I can find is information regarding foreign men who married Japanese women. I, on the other hand, am a foreign woman who married a Japanese man.

Is it the same process or different?

Does anyone know how I can go about changing my name?

Also, I know there's a certain amount of time that can pass before you need to go to family court to get your name changed, but I can't re-locate where I saw that information. Does anyone know how long it is?

Just take your husband with you to the kuyakusho (ward office) and register your new name. I don't believe you need to go to court to do that.
