I loved Japanese songs from anime since I was little, but seriously I started listening to Jmusic on the 1st of October last year. :-) It'll be a year soon!!! 😎 Oh,I rembember that day pretty clearly! :p

I must have been 13-14 when I started to listen jrock etc.. ☝ I'm not really sure because it was near my birthday when I started and I don't remember the exact day. It started with Dir en grey of course. XP

i was around 13-14 (thats this year) and my first reaction: OMG MIYAVI LOOKS LIKE A GIRL!!!!!
😌
but that is past know! lolll

lol you sound just like me :D

i was 14-15, almost a year ago, and my first thought was also about miyavi: "he looks like a girl! how can ppl find him sexy?? =o" but.....well, he's deadly sexy now xD

I listened to jrock when I was 13, so it's gonna be about five years, the first band I listened to Malice Mizer when my friend made me watch Illuminati ><. NOT a good first video!! But after that I was hooked XD

Not long. Since I was 18 and I saw a Puffy Amiyumi show. The show is rubbish, but I got interested in the music, which led me to Jref😄 and I got to learn about other groups and artists😎

Since I have 15 and studying Japanese in high school. I wasn't into pop so naturally even with foreign songs I looked to the rock genre.

I started with the legends X and Hide... then moved to Glay and Laruku... and then Diru.

In between I've bumped on and listened to other singers and bands but they didn't make as big as an impression on me as the ones I listed.

I was 19 when I first heard Dir en grey, been hooked ever since (now I'm 21😊 )..

Konnichiwa!!!!!!

well, my dad loves Japanese music so since i was very very little i started listened to J-rock/J-Pop... the first song i learned, the first song that i could officially say: i like that song was The fourth avenue cafe - L'arc en ciel and i was in 1996 so, i was a little 5 years old girl that liked L'arc en ciel one day my dad played songs in my room and i listened a lot more L'arc en ciel songs, then i started listening to Malice Mizer in the Gackt Era, my first MM album was Merveilles and i was like 9 years old, in 1999 Gackt left MM and Kami died, i remember that i cried so much cuz' he was my MM favorite. I started to "follow" Gackt's solo carreer but still i was too young to keep in touch with Gackt new releases so i listened my old Malice mizer and L'arc en ciel songs until 2003 when my dad gave me a Gackt CD "Moon" and i loved that CD!!! after that i got a computer and later i got Internet that was like in the middle of 2005 and i've been downloading all the songs that i didin't listen of Gackt and L'arc en ciel and checking other bands and singers, now im 14 years old and aproximately 90 Japanese Bands/Singers that i like and that i love listening. :-)

i was ...16...17? started with malice's gekka no yakusoku and then i went to gackt and then dir and now...loads :p
it's been..nearly 3 years now

Gacktness_lover: you're lucky that ur dad is one who listens to those songs XD And it's nice to haf a girl as young as 5 liking laruku XD

For japanese music i got into them when i was quite young but for jrock it was really late... around last yr october... I wonder why i didn noe abt it earlier >.<

^ same here, i got into Japanese music years ago, but I was just interested in Jrock about mid of last year.

I think I was about 13/14. I found a site with streams of JPop and JRock songs and I started listening to some songs by Ayumi Hamasaki and Hitomi Yaida (because they had been recommended to me). Then I found songs by Youjeen (I love that woman) and when I looked for more rock-y stuff I started listening to L'arc~en~ciel, Luna Sea, LIV, Malice Mizer,, Dir en grey, X Japan (I think Kurenai was one of the first JRock songs I heard), Buck Tick, Penicillin, etc. And it sort of grew from there.
Since MM were one of the first bands JRock bands I heard, I guess I discovered Visual Kei around the same time, lol.
And I know for a fact that Youjeen was one of the first J-music artists I heard and she is still one of my favourites, despite her not releasing anything anymore.

I was 16 and my friend had me listen to SID because i thought that the picture of Aki on her binder was amazing. Then she had me listen to diru's tsumi to batsu, but it wasn't until i heard the song for a second time that i became hooked! :-)

I was 15 or 16 when i've heard my first J-Rock (Dir en grey Withering to Death)

I was infected with jrock virus when I was 9 actually (at that time I heard for X-Japan for the first time from my mother) but I started to listen to it much later..not sure..but I thing I was 12...XD

I was 16 when i begon to listen to jpop and stuff like that.. And 17 when i first listen to jrock ^^
