How much money should I bring with me to Japan??

Hello everyone,

My name is Natasha and I am hoping to go to Japan at some stage in the near future to teach English.

I am just wondering -will I need money for a deposit for an appartment and a months rent or is the accommodation expense taken care of by the public school or private school I would be teaching in?

Are flights reimbursed by the private school?I think they are,from what Ive read,for the public school.

Unfortunately, Natasha, there is no one-size-fits-all answer for any of your questions. The answer to each of them will depend on the your particular employment situation.

Do not expect the vast majority of employers to pay your airfare. That is a few and far between thing.

Eikaiwas usually provide an apartment from an exiting teacher, so it will have the key money paid up and the furnishings provided.
ALT jobs (other than JET) are a different story.

If you can't afford to up and move within your own country, reconsider moving to Japan. Setup expenses here are usually pretty stiff.
