How much Yen is it to stay at a decent hotel?, and how do you pay in japan? Do you pay by the night or by the month or what?

I was looking into the youth hotels but i dont know.

I think If you want to stay in decent hotel. you have to pay 7000Yen over par night in Osaka.it is depend on the city.

Osaka is second bigger in Japan. Tokyo is biggest,and Most Expensive.
If you want to stay in Tokyo and you have few money,I think you shoud stay in

A cheap inn is concentrated at Minamisenju station in Tokyo.
However, in this area, there are many day laborers.


It is "FUKUSEN" that is recommended in this area.
Facilities can use Internet free newly, too.

In Tokyo I only stayed in a hotel once, it was actually outside of Tokyo, a Hilton adjacent to Disneyland and it was around $400 US a night for a family of 5, but it seems like a lot of that was a per person fee so if it is just a couple it would be much cheaper. As for how you pay we just put it on our American Visa card and it was just the same process as any good hotel in the US.

In my experience, it's about the same as San Francisco or Manhattan--$100 is what you're looking at for a run-of-the-mill hotel (neither high-end nor low-end). They charge per night and usually per person. You can get lots more details in any travel guide, online or offline.

Minshuku are worth looking into, as well.

aah the age old question of looking for accomadation, well in all my hours of research things dont come cheap, you've got to go with guest house you will have a small room, the price will be cheaper if you share with a friend.

For around Y 20,000-30,000/day, you can have a pretty above-average hotel, like the New Otani at Akasaka.

I am not really fond of big hotels. I prefer the inns. You can find them for around 5800 yen.

During my painfully short stay in Tokyo in August 2003, I stayed at the Shinagawa Prince Hotel in the least expensive room at around $96.00 a night which I'm guessing is a standard rate for the low end type of rooms in the Tokyo area. But be warned if you make reservations at a hotel in advance, your quoted rate could go up, or down, depending on the currency exchange rate between the dollar and the yen.

Case in point: When I made my reservations three months before my trip (I'm a nut for planning things well ahead), I was quoted a price of $83.00 a night at that hotel I stayed at, but when I got there, I discovered, much to my chagrin that the rate had gone up because of the currency exchange. So make sure you have plenty of money set aside (or a hefty balance on your plastic) to cover contingincies like that.
