A guy I know played on one track on this album, but i have no idea if he made it on the finished CD. Is Jon Theodore anywhere in the credits?

I think it's pretty much just a tax write off for Universal.

Matsuda Seiko NOT big in Japan? Sorry, but that has got to be one of the most ignorant things I've heard in this forum in oh, about 2 days. Seiko is as much a Japanese ICON as Godzilla, Ultraman and Doraemon.

Indeed, but you have to put this in perspective. Matsuda was the biggest thing in Japanese popculture in the 1980's. Most JReffers weren't even born back then...

Puffy are also very big in Japan. They only gained popularity in the US among anime fans, and that's a whole different audience.

hey guys....what do you think of hikaru utada? i just ordered her cds Deep River and Exodus..im waiting for them to arrive...i heard goods things about her

She's not bad.....however her exodus album is VERY different to what she has been releasing in Japan.....but still good noneoftheless.

She is not my favorite artist, but then I listen to her songs occasionally.

Her Deep River album is very good......

Personally, I like Ayumi Hamasaki better (lol, you can tell by my avatar XD) but I do like Utada Hikaru's music. It is true though that her Exodus album greatly differs from all her other albums. I like the Exodus album alot...but I personally think she kind of sounds better when she sings in japanese vs. english. I am really happy, though, that she did get to release an album her. Good for her!

I listened to the single today, I like the title song! It seems her style is a little too 'pop' for my taste, but I can hear she has a really good voice. In the title song, there is a twist of melody which keeps my interest; that's a good piece of writing.

I typically don't enjoy most A-Sides. I just can't wait until her next album comes out and she puts behind the embarrassment that was Exodus. True, it had some nice songs like Exodus '04, Kremlin Dusk, and About Me, but, except for KD, they lacked the magic of her earlier songs and, as I mentioned in another thread, it focused too much on self-consciously appealing to the US audience.

By the way, has anyone every heard or watched her unplugged session? That was probably the finest unplugged I've ever heard. We had a full, professional string backing, a VERY smooth translation of studio electronics to live instruments, and probably THE coolest unknown drummer ever. If anyone knows anything more about the drummer, let me know!
