For beginning, it is just listen to.

But, I try to sing a little, but it's difficult because two things :
A) I speak Japanese a little
B) I don't understand what the singer is singing
( I like to understand what is the text is when I listen to a song )

Mars Man : Do you sing Enka ?

I have sung enka in the past, but almost never with the correct words. It's kind of funny in a way; back when there were so few non-Japanese around town here (1984) I would go sing karaoke in some snack ( a drinking place primarily for men, where some nice looking, well dressed girls help you empty the bottle of whiskey you had just purchased) and would basically do a comedy act...singing anything that came to mind; mixing Japanese and English, with a little Spanish and Hindi and imitation Chinese for the characters that flashed on the screen sometimes.

But recently, no. I don't sing.
