I'm new to this forum and to the japanese stuff..

I'm interested in japanese people and culture, japanese music [mostly j-rock], japanese food, and japanese culture [both traditional and modern]. This is such a great website and forum you guys have! I wish to join.

Rest in Peace, Mars Man

A dear friend and well respected and loved member of our JREF family, Mars Man, passed away December 18, 2015 at about 10:30 p.m. at the age of fifty-nine. While he hadn't been active with us for a couple of years, in the past he not only was a very active and valued contributor to discussions...

If you stay here long enough it will happen to you too. (Actually if you don't stay here it will also happen to you. And the rest of us too. )
 
I had a very close friend here from South Korea who lived in Switzerland. I E-Mailed back and forth with her and her 2 roommates for almost a year. When her 2 roommates were killed in a car crash , we became very close. She worked for the Red Cross as a trouble shooter and traveled a lot. All of a sudden , she seem to disappear? A month later I got an E-Mail from her lawyer telling me she had been killed in a plane crash. He was trying to find her relatives in South Korea. I had saved all of her E-Mails on print outs and just happened to have info on her sister in South Korea. The lawyer was able to settle her estate and that was the last I heard from him. A lot of years have passed but her and Mars Man will never be forgotten in my mind. In the golden years of JREF , there were many members that seemed like close family.
