So I just decided to learn Japanese a couple days ago. My previous knowledge of it has been a few words I've picked up from watching anime but nothing I could use to make a complete sentence. I guess being able to watch anime and not have to read subs is my motivation, plus it would be pretty cool to be able to speak fluently if I ever visit Japan (though that'll probably never happen). With that in mind I'm ignoring kanji and just focusing on learning romaji since that's what anime is subbed with. Hopefully I don't get frustrated with it after a few weeks and quit.

Welcome to JREF aichain! It's cool that you've decided to pick up Japanese, but be prepared for a very long and difficult journey. You could start by reading a bit of the Learn Japanese section, lots of good information there. Enjoy the forum!
