Help with WW2 Flag please

The flag with the writing on it says
大正四年元旦 Taishō yonnen gantan
ニッポン Nippon
恭賀新年 Kyōga shinnnen
1914, January 1st

Happy New Year
I have no opinion on authenticity on that flag, other than I find it slightly weird to use katakana for "Nippon", and the lettering is very funny. I don't think I've ever seen a flag with "Happy New Year" written on it. It's obviously not something from the war. Whether it is really from 1914 or not, I have no idea. Is the funny lettering just a weird stylized writing, or does it indicate that a non-Japanese person wrote it... this is also something I don't know.

The one with writing is written very poorly. Like a non-native speaker making themselves a souvenir or something.
年 is such a basic kanji, even I wouldn't mess it up that bad (twice!).
It looks authentic in terms of the age. I could believe it was produced in 1914. All you need is an electron microscope to be sure.
If your dad was in postwar Japan, the rising sun could be a souvenir from that time.

1914 is the year when World War I began.
At that time, Japan had a military alliance with Britain.
That year, Japan declared war on Germany on August 23.
Imperial Army and the Allied Forces of the British army captured Qingdao that was a leased territory of Republic of China Shangdong that was the base of the German Orient fleet and a fortress of Kiaochow Bay on November 7.
Who of the Japanese forces might give the officer of British troops it on January 1, 1915.

I agree with mdchachi-san. It doesn't seem to be written by a native Japanese person since it's extremely poorly-written, and there are so many mistakes.
