Help! Kanji symbol meaning "change"

I'm trying to find a right kanji symbol for "change"... by "change" I mean sort of change like "big change in your life (or your mind), some new big steps in your life, etc... "..
so I found two kanji symbols and I don't know which of them is right (huh, I cant post links to images I found because it's my first post here)

I hope somebody here can show me the right kanji symbol for "change" im searching for... i can send pics I found in private message if anybody wants to help me..

Henka, which is a noun meaning "change".

変 is also used for verb 変る (kawaru vi) and 変える (kaeru vt) but don't use this kanji alone, as it also is an adjective (hen) meaning strange, eccentric, etc.

what about KAIKAKU symbol? does it have the same (or very similiar) meaning like HENKA?
or what about KAI when it's used alone? (I hope I used right names for symbols.. beacuse I can't find it in character map)

Just a side note (maybe you already understood it and this may not be necessary but just in case...)
As Glenn explained, 改革 means "reform" so if would not fit in the sentence like the one you mentioned, i.e. "big change in your life (or your mind), some new big steps in your life, etc... "
