[distressed in japan]

Im new to the fourm I just registered I have been living in japan for about one year and Im recently married. Please no congrats. I'm from Eastern Canada (Nova Scotia). My first few months in Japan were terrible I was so confused and felt so aggravated. Now however Im much more relaxed and accepting of the things I cannot change. In fact I love it here...(most Days). Im not your average 20 somthing fresh out of Uni English teacher (I'm 31). I have never been to university I was an Electrician.

Hi, distressed. What I do want to congratulate you on is the fact that you've learned how to live as a foreigner in Japan. I may never get to even visit Japan, but I still want to learn the language (I've been learning it for a few years now) and become able to communicate.
I am 34. I work for a major software company. I game a lot, I sing a lot, I hang out with my children a lot. *^_^*
Please feel free to share your experiences of living in Japan; I'd love to hear about them.

Hello distressed. You may want to check out a book titled "Legless in Ginza" by Robin Gerster. It's about the authors' (whose from Australia) two year stint in Japan as an Australian History professor at Todai University. It's a quick, engrossing read and I have a feeling that you'll be able to relate to his situation. Take care.
