What's new

Hello

Don't get me wrong I can still squeal with the best of them but to me their Art and Music is what comes first. In the immortal words of Tetsu, "Music then flirting." LOL But yeay I'm not a shallow fangirl whom by all laws of nature should have lost her voice from squealing. It's about the Art Form...and then of course it doesn't hurt if the Artist happens to be good-looking. :p

Eeee, I missed, like, totally this whole conversation! ☝

Anyway... yeah... you're cool as you are... no homophobia here... :) ... and, it's nice to welcome people interested in music... hehe, even though I love music far above visual, I still get paranoid I become a stupid fangirl 😌 I just tell myself I am way too old and mature and place myself above such things...

Hey, my mom's a fangirl and she's 40+ so yeah hey could happen to anyone. And I don't mind the squealing just as long as that's not ALL, ya know?

Ahh well - *coughcough* - I have written the dreaded phrase "eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!" no less than twice on this forum. 🙇‍♂️ I don't know how it managed to get past my personal inbuilt censor... :D

It's cool that your mom's a fangirl. 👍 My mom likes what jrock she hears, but she doesn't live with me, I don't see her often enough to make her converted! My dad, he would have loved it, because he was a guitarist, same as me. :)

Yeah, it's all Hyde's fault that my mom now loves J-Rock. Took me awhie to get her to come around to Gacktism, Dir en Greyism, and many others though. She's still not completely converted to Diruism which is worrisome.

P.S. The phrase to look out for when it comes to me is "Oh, my Gackt!!!" that's when you know I've lost all control and gone completely raging-mad-rabid-overly-obsessive-rampent-fangirl

lol...

When I get too fangirlish, I go completely silent. That's the time to start worrying about my mental images...  :devilish: 🍾

Hello!
And Goth doesn't always equal Satanist. I'm not a Satanic Goth or an "easy going" Goth. What I am is a Vampiric Goth. MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hehe Nice!
I'm goth myself but i do not wear the clothes..alittle black here and their never hurt anybody but i dont need to wear the clothes just to show I'm goth...I'm goth in spirit you could say :)

Anyway congrats on being a member of JREF and enjoy your stay!

goth eh?, i was a gothin' it for a while, rebel for the teenage years and stuff, but goth's seem to want to not comform to a society and join the crowd and look the same, but they just look a certain way that excludes them from the normal folk, into a group of others alike. So in entirely they create what they hate, I hate emphatic irony so i gave the goth thing up.

Well, I'm not Gothic 'cause I wanna be different or don't like groups or whatever. That's not what being Gothic is about. It's about a mindset, a lifestyle not just cool clothes wild hair or wearing eyeliner. Being Gothic is a celebration of the darker side of humanity. Saying "yes, humans are both light and dark creatures" it's about honesty. Being Gothic isn't about the music you listen to or standing in corners and glaring at people (although that is SO MUCH FUN to do lol). Being Gothic is a State of Being. And it's not something (to me anyway) that you can "be" one year and "not be" the next. It's not like a shirt that you can put on and take off whenever you want. Being a Goth--or rather when you are a Goth it's who you are at the core not who you are right now. Sorry, I'm ranting again.

the dark side eh?, i embraced that a long time ago,
thats why im an ego dictating megalomanaic that knocks folk back to get ahead, darkness is my ally, why be a "goth" that classes you? your just someone in a group acting alike, chavs are similar in structure.

Why dont folk be individuals? stand out on your own?
no point being a face in a small crowd thats obscure from the bigger crowd.

You're too right... Kate Fox wrote quite insightfully about that in her book "Watching the English"... about subcultures and whatnot... the thing is, people wanna be different... but, all different together, kind of thing... so they can have the feeling of being different with still the security of being part of a group...

actually, i find that people can easily spot my "gothness in spirit" (so to speak!), even when i'm not wearing anything faintly goth but looking very boring, lol. Although, i'm wearing more and more goth now, not because i wanna "look goth" but simply because certain colors and styles suit me. :)

You said it. :p

Did I say I was mirroring? Did you miss my whole rant? I said it's not about the clothes or the makeup it's about what's INSIDE. So what if most Goths tend to like the same things? And note I said MOST.

That's the opposite of being Gothic anyway, honey. Goths have respect for others but also a respect for the darkness. They don't use the darkness against others to achive what they want.

I guess there's as many ego dictating megalomanaics among goths as among non-goths... 😊

Says who? Mwahahahahahaha............... :devilish:

Sorry - I can't resist the power of the Dark One... I am the unwilling slave of the forces of evil......... :( :D

haha....i thinks she dont find it funny kinsao,
RRRRIIIISSSEEEE LORD VADER......and he did, over to the dark side he has.

BTW im not goth, (i've got some ethics you know?), the dodgy clothing is weird but a set style of clothing is what goes with those fads that come and go. Its the weird mindset that goes with goth's, putting curse's on folk and stuff, sacrifice and self harm, i mean what?
A pM for goth's and all, cheer up why not become a shank? they're normally happy and like having fun.

I don't know what I am... I'm thoroughly confused...

I think it's more or less impossible to have your own truly "individual" clothing style... we can do our best, but most of us working/studying people have to buy clothes from the shops, we haven't got hours of time to spend making something fantastic, or hundreds of pounds to spend in specialist more unusual clothing stores. :( So in the end, whatever you wear carries something of its original intended style... high street, or goth, or something old-lady from the thrift shop XD, or punk, or... whatever... Of course, it's what you choose and how you adapt and combine your clothings that make your "individual and unique" style. :)

  I don't think goths make sacrifice and put curses on people and stuff... it's not the same as being a satanist... that's a different thing... I guess maybe some people adopt a goth style because they think it goes with this things.

It's so hard to be truly "unique" in your look... I don't think it's worth the effort... I think if you are unique in your personality, that shines through. 🌹 :)

And, yeah, it's not "individual" if it's a whole group of people being individual together.

i think you hit the spot right there with that comment, im just preaching for people to be themselves, nothing wrong with that, eh?

I think you've confussed Gothism with Witchcraft, honey. Yes, SOME Goths misuse our ways of thinking to justify suicide, murder etc. But THAT IS NOT WHAT BEING GOTHIC IS. How many times do I have to say that?
Goths aren't depressed we just respect Darkness. And we ARE happy and we have emotional range like anyone else, thank you very much. We can feel sad, happy, angry whatever.
See it's people like you that pigonhole us into a stereotype that just isn't true. Respect for Darkness and actual Darkness of Soul are two completely different things. And yes, Gothism can sometimes attract those who are truly Evil in their Soul but that is NOT WHAT IT IS AT ITS CORE.
Gothism is a respect of beauty, Life, Death, and everything that makes up our existance. It embraces the fact that Death is a part of Life and celebrates it just as one should celebrate Life. There is nothing wrong with having a love of everything that makes up a Human Being's existance.

But what if being yourself is being a Goth? Ever stop to think of that, dearest? ...Didn't think so.

SIDE NOTE: And people, STOP MAKING THIS ABOUT THE FRIGGIN CLOTHES!!! Being Gothic isn't about what you wear. Why does everyone think all being Gothic is is wearing black, eyeliner, and having straneg hair? That's not what it is AT ALL. That's like saying all it takes to be Buddhist is shaving your head and wearing orange robes. See how offensive that is?
