"Gung hay fat choy" is Cantonese, which I don't speak. Thank you for your welcoming though.

Most of my Chinese friends are from Hong Kong - and an awful lot of people here speak Mandarin. How do you say it in Taiwanese ?

My mother tongue is mandarin and I've been using it all my life. It's "Gong Xi Fa Cai (tsai)".

I can understand Taiwanese but unfortunately I can't speak it, due to lack of practice. It starts with "giong hee" but I'm not sure how to say the last two characters in Taiwanese/Minnan.

Yes, I think I've seen and heard that Mandarin before. I must say, it seems to "roll off the tongue" much nicer than the Cantonese version !

Please don't tell my Hong Kong friends that I said that !

It happened to me when I did a long reply before, and yes, sometimes the system is unstable due to user overload; last night I counted 167 members on-line at once. I wonder if that has anything to do? (We are over 10,000 members strong! :))

I am actually Korean, I learned Mandarin in the US.
My 1st yr instrcutor was a 窶披?ｺﾋ弖ﾅｽt from 窶佚､ﾃ?s, her parents from 窶徒窶ｹﾅｾ.
My 2nd yr instructor was from ﾃｻﾃｲﾅ?Cﾂ湘? China.
I still live in Korea , but my salmon went to Siberian Chukotka for the mating season...please forgive my little joke! 😊

Interesting, Quiet Sunshine. When I used Korean WP and did cut and paste, I had the same problem. Now I input directly from Jref window, and the problem seems to have disappeared. Does that make sense in your case?

I think, in the Imperial Japanese Navy, the command might well have been "man your battle stations!"

Probably a little "overload" may well have been the answer.
