The Great Challenges of "HAYABUSA" - World's first asteroid sample return mission -
404 File Not Found | 宇宙科学研究所

I didn't know such a program until recently. But It's said ...

"The Hayabusa spacecraft was launched on 9 May 2003 and rendezvoused with Itokawa in mid-September 2005. After arriving at Itokawa, Hayabusa studied the asteroid's shape, spin, topography, colour, composition, density, and history. In November 2005, it landed on the asteroid and attempted to collect samples but failed to do so. Nevertheless, there is a high probability that some dust swirled into the sampling chamber, so it was sealed, and the spacecraft is scheduled to return to Earth by June 2010."

It was a long long journey from earth to Itokawa, and then back to earth, taking some 7 years ! Outcome of Hayabusa's achievements may help us understand the origin of Galaxy.

HAYABUSA mission must have some similarity to ARMAGEDON in a certain point.

Hayabusa Update:
JAXA says some 10+ pcs of 1 milimeter diameter tiny particles are confirmed in the Hayabusa capsule.
It is not confirmed yet whether they are objects on Itokaya or not, but JAXA is exciting about the findings. More detailed info will follow soon.
