I was wondering how people join groups on this site. Everytime I check my profile it says: "You are not part of any member groups". What do I do about this?
User Groups refer to things like Admin, Advisor, Moderator, Mentor, Donator, Sempai (people with over 100 posts), Junior Member (1 to 99 posts), Registered Member (0 post), or Banned.
It is technically possible to create "public groups" that any body can join (as opposed to moderator or automatic promotion with number of posts) and be member of more than one group. Admins can define the authorizations for each group. We can for exmaple limit access (viewing or posting) to some subforums only to members of some specific groups (for example, only users who have 20 posts or more can view the Entertainment Gallery). This is used to create private forums or "clubs" within the forum, or just divide members by interest, but so that members can freely choose to join or quit those groups (thence the appelation "public group"). I am now considering creating 2 different public groups : one for Japan and one for Europe (Eupedia).
