Goodbye Iris

[Tsuyoiko]

I don't think it has sunk in yet. Simon just got back from the vets - we had to have Iris put down. She was dragging one leg a bit this morning, but I didn't really worry too much, as she would often bump herself - she's very adventurous, always climbing on things and running about. Anyway, it got worse as the morning went on, and she couldn't stand up. So Simon took her to the vets, they did some x-rays and found she had broken her back. Simon says they were very kind to her, but there was nothing they could do. So they put her down so she doesn't have to suffer. Simon brought her home and buried her in the garden.

I know a lot of you enjoyed seeing the pictures I posted of her, and many people commented on my avatars, so I thought you would want to know.

Oh, damn! I'm so sorry, Tsuyoiko! I know Iris meant a lot to you. Pets are much more than that, they actually become part of the family, and to lose a member of the family is indeed heartbreaking. At least her resting place is close to you. May Iris rest in peace.

Thanks guys. I am coping OK, but it is weird at home. It is so quiet in the kitchen - I never realised how I was so used to all the little noises coming from her hutch!

Oh Tsuyoiko I am so sorry for your loss and I know how you feel having just lost my own companion recently. I was just wondering what happened to Iris in your avatar and why you changed it when I read a recent post. Now I know. It just doesn't seem the same Tsuyoiko without the avatar and will take some getting used to as I know it will for you. Also, if you do decide to use her again as your avatar she will live forever in our minds as the avatar of Iris = Tsuyoiko. I hope you are feeling better.

All these kind thoughts are really helping me! I did try to put Iris back as my avatar, but there are problems with uploading avatars since the upgrade. As soon as it's fixed I'll put my favourite pic back there.

Very very sorry to hear about Iris, im sure she will be giving rabbits elsewhere a run for their money, beating them in beer drinking competitions, and carrot munching marathons.
