Would both be used, meaning the same thing?

(a) I wanted you to arrive there earlier.
(b) I wanted you to get there earlier.

Yes, in these two sentences either word can be used, and both have the same meaning.

In many other kinds of sentences, though, the words get and arrive are not interchanegable.
