Gaydar and the Chart

A gay man is a women in a mans body, and a gay women is a man in a womens body.

Actually no. I am 'gay' but I don't feel like I am a man in a woman's body. That is a whole different issue. Gender confussion and sexual orientation aren't one and the same.

Wait. I though you said you were straight?

What I meant was that you think like a man because you have feelings for women. Vice Versa. Not like, oo let's go play sports or let's go shopping.

Hyde said: "Gender confussion and sexual orientation aren't one and the same."

Don't worry, Im not confusing the two.

Peace!

Oh yeah, totally! Straight as any rainbow! :77: No, hon, I am not straight. Actually I prefer not to give labels for orientation since I think it limits a limitless thing but if I don't use a label people think I'm lying or hiding. So I use the term "gay" because it's the one I'm most comfortable with at the moment. Lesser of the evils I guess.

I don't believe I think like a man, just because I find women attractive does not mean I think like a man in any way. But that's just me.

Well, we all have our own definitions of gay. So I will leave it at that. See you around on the other threads!

Later!

I think if Hyde is most comfortable with the term gay we should just leave it at that.
But even people ,who say they are completely straight or gay still have a gay or straight part inside of them and as a person changes readically every 3 years a straight person may become gay or the other way round.

I don't think it's a matter of switching between orientations personally. I just think that orientation is like water, it ebbs and flows.

Apart from the slight wondering in my mid teens, im as straight as the sides of a super-computer generated square.

I dont believe in that 1% 99% thing, your either straight or your gay i personally feel.

I have a hypothesis that Bisexuals are more a conditioned creation of modern attitudes towards sexuality rather then really being gay.

My mate jason isnt gay at all, but when hes out on a friday night hell still snog other blokes for a dare and stuff.

I just think bisexuality is a convenient little fashion label one can wear to appear modern and cool.

Meh, maybe it isnt cool to be straight anymore but i dont care, i love puntang!. 😊

There are many different causes of sexuality. Take some examples from my personal experience.

As a kid, two of my mum's best friends were a lesbian couple. They had been together for years, but had both been married and had kids from their marriages. They had both been treated so badly by men that they no longer wanted relationships with men at all, and had found solace in sharing similar experiences. Of course, not all women in this situation would have sworn off men, but both felt they would never have been attracted to a woman if they had been better treated by men.

A young friend of mine told me a couple of months ago that he is gay. I have known him since he was 11, and knew almost straight away that he was gay - although he didn't realise it himself until a few months ago. I'm not sure how I knew, although he is slightly effeminate, especially his voice.

An old boyfriend of mine is bisexual, but prefers men - 70/30, he says. He is pretty masculine, although he likes to put on feminine airs, which seem very fake. This is just my theory, but as he was growing up he didn't see a lot of his dad. His main male role model was his very effeminate gay uncle. I think as this uncle was such a positive role model, my friend has gone on to emulate him, somewhat self-consciously.

Another old boyfriend that I don't like to think of too often was bisexual because he was obsessed with sex and would take it wherever he could get it - although I think he only ever fell in love with women.

A person I never suspected of being gay is an old friend from university. Although he is a bit effeminate, it never crossed my mind that he might be gay. I was always worried that he had a crush on me as I didn't find him attractive, so I was surprised when he told me he was gay. He has known for as long as he could remember.

There is a guy I work with that I had always assumed was gay, until he told me about another guy coming onto him and how he'd had to let the guy down - obviously I wasn't the only one who thought he was gay!

The point is, sometimes you can tell someone is gay, sometimes you can't, some people are born gay, some people become gay, some people are completely straight and most people probably don't even think about it - they're just attracted to who they're attracted to, and fall in love with who they fall in love with, without ever consciously thinking about gender.

Bisexuality was around in the age of the Pharaohs, I don't believe it's a "new" fad. There was a Pharaoh (who's name I cannot remember and therefore my girlfriend will kill me) who had a harem of 100 men AND women. The feelings of being attracted to both either equally or just strongly (60/40, 70/30 etc) are legitimate and I don't think it's people "faking" or just on a pit stop to "Gay Town."

I just think bisexuality is a convenient little fashion label one can wear to appear modern and cool.
Oh, yeah, it's so cool to be harassed day in and day out by homophobes and then those gays who think the way you do about bisexuality. Yeah, sure, I would totally self inflict myself with that just to be "cool" :cautious:
Some people really lean towards one gender and some just don't and are more near the middle ground. Yeah sure, some people do say, "I'm bi!" just to say it or whatever but that doesn't mean that's why the term exists or that that is how all bisexuals feel.

I cant really believe ,that you are harassed as much as you continuosly tell us.

If someone harasses you -- knock their block off. :box:

Excuse my simplistic and caveman attitude :sorry: but for often I just hear the refrain "violence doesn't solve anything", blablabla; yes, but sometimes if someone gives you hassle, bam! and no more hassle. 😊 🙇‍♂️

Violence just causes more violence, but as kinsao said if someone gets on your nerves bash his/her head in. =) :D

And this is why homophobia continues. Because no one believes that it is a real problem and that the people going through it are really hurting.
You don't know me, you don't know what I have been through, or how I have gone through life. So please don't presume that you do.

So I am a homophobe because I cant really believe ,that there has been no improvement concerning tolerance for gay or bisexual people?

No, I think homophobia, like any other prejudice, persists because people are stupid, not because people don't think discrimination is a problem. If homosexuality was more universally accepted, on whatever grounds people choose, discrimination would begin to disappear.

I didn't say anyone here was homophobic. You came to that conclusion all on your own.
Improvment. That's about the 100th time I've had that spat at me. Just because we aren't harrassed as much does not mean the harassment we receive is somehow unvalid. Better means just that, better but not fixed. And yes, I'll admit it's improved. Instead of getting stoned to death now we get shot to death in bars. Wow, so much better, ne? :cautious:

Go to Cologne the city is 65% gay^^
I must admit as I have never been in the situation you seem to have been in quite a lot I cant really tell if its exactly the way it is ,or if you are just exagurating a little.I used to have a gay friend (who has moved away now) ,and he was quite popular with us and generally got along quite well with most of the people he met ,although he was quite openli gay.
And its been more likely to be frowned upon if you ware a parker than if you ware a gay pride t-shirt here,so I have a quite different point of view.

Tolerance for homosexuality has varied throughout history. At some points, tolerance was indeed worse than it is today. However, I do agree that thinking about how much worse off you could be is no consolation whatsoever. It's like telling someone with a broken leg "at least you don't have leukaemia".

Sometimes I have to just hold my hands up in incomprehension and say "I don't understand humanity one bit" ☝

Point taken :D
It's just ,that I never really noticed gays beeing discriminated in the manner hyde described it in the area I live ,although it is a quite rural and conservativ region.

Well, if you haven't noticed I don't live in the same area as you. And you can think I'm exaggerating if that helps you sleep at night.

My dad used to worry about me being gay.
He thought that if I was without a girlfriend for long enough I would 'go gay'.
He once became suspicious of my sexuality because I was in my room with my GF and a male friend at the same time.

But then again he also became worried that I was getting into voodoo because I had a book on the subject for a college ceramics project

I don't know why I posted this, I guess I'm just a little pis*ed off with my dad at the moment.

Parents are too uptight about that. It's like honestly, if your son is or isn't gay it doesn't really matter. Besides you can't get turned gay or s**t like that just from not having a girlfriend. Honestly, I find parents like that rather disturbing. :eek2:

Oh, and everyone pray for my mortal soul because I'm planning on coming out to my own father soon. I don't think he's gonna take it to well. It's also scaring the s**t out of me, I'm really frightened to do it. But I've got to. He's the last person on my list of "People I must come out to" so yeah.

Good luck with your 'revelation' to your dad!

and yes, my dad is sometimes a bit disturbing. I sometimes think it would be funny if I was gay - just to give him something genuine to be concerned about, instead of the petty rubbish I have to deal with all the time.

I think the only thing ,that would shock my father was if I told him i was think on becoming a kommi :D

@Hyde what I said is based on my personal experience and I would say ,that good old europe is a bit more tolerant when it comes to sexuality or at least the part I come from is.
