Yours is a 21st century judgment, but don't forget that it all happened ages back, when segregation was a very real and actual problem. Surely you can't blame him for being pissed with with the slow and seemingly ineffective way of doing things of all the 'super harmony blah blah' groups.

I mean, put it this way, if you're the disadvantaged (severely) party in an oppressive regime which upholds (the south at least) segregation, what would you do?

"ages ago"? Not so long ago.

That attitude is a cop-out excuse for violence, criminality, and racism (not to mention utter lunacy).

So if......."Gaijin" describes a foreigner or "non-japanese",

What's a Japanese-American born in the states who hardly knows a word of Japanese but intends to move to Japan? Still considered "Gaijin" or just foreigner?

Gaijin and foreigner are the same. And according to a post on some other forum, even if you're nikkeijin, you're a foreigner hence gaijin. But you're expected to know some of the customs, so have to show more restraint than other foreigners.
