Gackt Or Hyde?

I would have to disagree, you don't need to own everyone of an artist's albums in order to know how they can sing ,not now thanks to internet radio, i tunes, and sites like youtube. But either way ,I have listened to both singers and I do not hear any evidence that Hyde has a broader vocal range.
Listen to Gackts songs like Ares,Kimi no koto dekiru,U+K, the mandarin version of Gatsu no love song and even just the beggining of Illness Illusion. These songs are all sung within a high range. Next compare them to Mirror and Oasis he sings these both lower than the previously mentioned songs but Vanilla ,Cube ,Fragrance ,Emu for my dears are all sung ,yet even lower than those song.
Then there is Hyde's singing within both his and L'arc en ciel's albums ,he does admitedlly hit some high notes within a song, such as in Jesus Christ ,Seasons Call , and Evergreen. But he never sings the whole song in falsetto or even within a slightly higher range. His voice remains static only momentarily grasping higher and lower notes ,where as Gackt not only hits higher and lower notes but sings sections and entire songs within a multitude of different ranges. When I first started listening to Gackt I could hardly tell it was the same man singing in some of his songs. I have never experienced this phenomenon with Hyde.

Try listening to "Anemone" will you. This is what I mean by not judging a singing before listening to more of their songs. The songs you listed such as "Jesus Christ", "Evergreen" and "Season's Call" don't really have any of his higher notes at all. In fact, I consider them some his flattest songs.

Yeah, as I said, "Faith" is in the low-mid to low range which doesn't really show what Hyde is capable of at all. It's very hard to sing that way full voice, sure, but it all comes off as sounding similar and a bit muddy at the end of the day.
And if you only download selective songs by Laruku you won't get a good picture of his range either. Whole albums is the way to go if you want to actually know what an artist can do in my opinion.
I don't think Gackt has more range then Hyde. What Gackt does have has nothing to do with range and everything to do with doing voices. That's a completely separate skill from just plain ol' vocal range.

Well, I never said "Faith" was all you listened to in my last post. But in your original post the only songs you listed were mostly from "Faith" and all from Hyde's solo work. I think that's why we keep bringing it up, not because we think that's all you've heard but because you used them as a bit of an attack.

I voted for Hyde. Not cuz of looks or a hate for Gackt, but because his voice just has this effect about it.
But it was a hard one to pic since I love Gackt just as much. (BLACK STONE is a good song to skateboard to.)

No. After just listening to "Faith" you don't really have the right to make a fair judgement yet. How many albums of Gackt have you heard? How many L'Arc or HYDE albums? Just one?

I have heard other Hyde music. Faith was his first album I bought. Before you start jumping down my throat, I didn't say I disliked him, I just felt that Gackt singing was clearer and I did say "SEEMS to have". Please read more carefully before making rash judgements.

All the talk about how hyde's voice has suffered from his smoking isn't really fair either. Gackt also smokes. hyde's nearing his 40s and a male's vocal cords go through their second dramatic change (since puberty) at that time. Smoking may affected his breathing somewhat but mostly I believe it's just a biological change.

I didn't know that either of them smoked. In some cases it doesn't really affect a singers voice and in others it does *shrugs*

I dunno. But dont go about judging people just from one album ok? What would you think if I picked up an old Malice Mizer album and said "Oh, so this is what Gackt is like."

How many times do you judge someone by just hearing one or two songs from the radio or MTV? Everyone does it. Such conversations as "I don't like her/him" based on their chart releases. Listening to them on the radio are there to make you decide to buy their albums or not.

I personally think Gack is better looking than Hyde. When i first saw moonchild photos, i didn't even notice hyde nor care to even look up who he is. I have to admit that i didn't find hyde attractive at all. That was until i started to listen to laruku's music. Gackt has nice voice too but it doesn't attract me the way hyde's does. Hyde owns my heart and he is most beautiful when he is singing live. As for Gackt, he is too plastic for me and i find his music boring. I guess it's just a matter of taste.

I voted for Hyde, But only because I assumed everyone would vote for Gackt and I like helping the underdog. Boy was I wrong.
Anyways If I could redo my vote I'd vote for both of them, they both have great voices.

I changed my mind. Gackt uses too much vibrato for my liking. And Hyde sometimes has problems hitting certain notes. Clearly the only solution is make some sort of Hyde/Gackt hybrid with much less vibrato and a much higher range.

It will be unstoppable.

damn it's so stupid to argue which one is better because they're very different artists and it's stupid to say things like "gackt came from a better family..." or "Gackt's voice si trained" come on... all singers have to train thei voices and I bet Hyde trains it too just his voice is different from Gackt's... Also it's not the family or all those other things that matters... if they wouldn't have such talents, they haven't achieved such popularity and we wouldn't be argueing which one is better to sum up I prefer Gackt more (though maybe he's plastic and like I'd care) but I think it really depends on a music taste cause Gackt's and Laruku's music differs a lot...

And on the subject of Gackts "plasticness" I don't think he's that plastic at all he's rather in my opinion.

(Though I have heard, I believe he said this himself that he had his nose remade because he didn't like his old one XD... So yes he's had plastic surgery but he's still so cute )

As for Hyde he's a sweety! I just wanna hug him sometimes!!!!
