I'm not sure if this is the right section so please move it to where it belongs to.

I wonder how many members here eat fresh eggs and i would like to talk about eggs ! ( who doesn't like eggs ?)
TheHealthRanger suprised me in this video :



after i saw his video i bought 13 hen and now i get 5-6 Feshhhhh Eggs every day :Q
I also had 31 Quail and they lay 20 to 25 eggs a day before i gave them out to a friend.

Ofc i eat fresh eggs in dinner and breakfast and i keep store ones for recipes.

How embarrassing to be a Californian. I guess politicians that sit in a room all day and have no touch with reality can make some really stupid laws. I am guessing it was an attempt to curtail some health issues, however how reasonable is that?

My favorite thing to do with eggs is to make an egg wash and bake it on bread. That's what makes In-N-Out's bread taste so good. Vegetarians don't seem to realize this, and I find that slightly humorous.
 
I couldn't believe it when I saw a Japanese man swallow an egg raw!! He just cracked it in his mouth... I asked the cook if it was safe and he looked at me like I was crazy!! HAHA, I guess it's common practice in Japan? He gave me an egg and told me to try it so I did. I almost threw up... It didn't actually taste bad, just not used to eating a raw egg, especially growing up with the stigma that raw eggs give you salmonella poisoning. They are just raised differently in Japan than in California I suppose.

Salmonella is living in a chicken poo, and could be found on eggshell only, so it is virtually safe to eat frest eggs.

I do remember, how I smashed an egg over table in restaurant, yolk gushed all around in 10000 feets. Thought that it is cooked egg for breakfast :LOL: Yeah, it was for dipping food into.

Fresh eggs are good, and tasty, but very unhealthy :(

Are you saying he ate the shell?

As ewww says its the salmonella on the egg shell that is the concern. But I have heard that Japanese are very good at producing eggs with little or no salmonella on the shell. I don't know if they wash them in a sterilizing solution or irradiate them or what, but I believe its true.

All these people eating sukiyaki...if it was not true there would be a salmonella epidemic here.

I don't think its true or fair to say that fresh eggs, or eggs in general, are unhealthy, or more accurately, unhealthful. But then I am not speaking of eating 8 of them for breakfast every single day. In moderation I cannot see how they would be so bad for you. I can however see lots of nutritional value.

he-he ... yolk contains lots of cholesterol, it is deadly for my post heart attac. I am talking about me only :LOL:
 
People here eat raw eggs sometimes, They say it's good for joints !

I am jealous Hezam, not just of your chickens and eggs, but of your gumption to keep them and care for them.

I have the land, and I can and should have chickens of my own. I am just too lazy. Even though I too love eggs, I just don't have the gumption. Such as it is, I have other things that I am already slacking on!
 
Mark, i check on my chickens two times a day, after sunrise and 2 hours before sunset, I'm really busy with my work but i still have time to take care of them, And from what i saw, Desk work kills the soul and that's why i try to stay connected to nature, I'm thinking of growing some plants even tho the weather here is very bad for animals and plants.
It was very exciting when i farmed 7 eggs today, I can't wait to go home after work and eat some fresh eggs :Q
I wish i have a small farm or garden to raise more animals.
 
I love eggs. A friend of mine in Nevada raises many kinds of chickens and has so many eggs that he gives them away.
I don't have the space to raise chickens.
I like egg salad, omelets, fried eggs, quiches, basically everything.
I eat them raw once in a great while, but only the ones I get fresh from a farmer, and even then I stir in vodka or wine and raw garlic. I prefer them cooked these days.
I used to love challah bread which is made with eggs, but I gave it up along with french toast, bagels, and everything else made with wheat flour.

I do make my own "bread" with eggs and flaxseed.
 
Fresh eggs are by far the best. When I lived in Ohio, we used to buy them from a local farmer.

What kind of quail do you keep, Hezam? I used to hunt Bobwhite quail, and loved eating them.

Some people keep chickens here for eggs (but we can't in my neighborhood). The one bad thing about keeping chickens is that their coops can really stink!

The Natives here like to eat duck and goose eggs in the spring.
 
What the guy did not say in the video (and I have no research to back it up) but the whole point of making the fresh eggs illegal is to raise the profit of factory farmers and ensure they get lots of money. Its an attempt to screw the people out of their freedom so some people can get rich.

Here in Japan it is actually illegal to brew your own alcohol over a certain very low alcohol percentage. Again, this is to protect and raise profits of liquor sellers.

This sort of abuse of the legislature is very common, and its sad that people refuse to see how unpatriotic and scummy so many politicians and their corporate lobbyists are in doing things like this.

The guy in the video was probably clever in not saying it so clearly as I do. Why? Because people are brainwashed into thinking their politicians and companies must be acting in the best interest of the people. I do not say all, but many if not most politicians are abusing their office and your rights to line their pockets and those of their buddies. God help you if you cannot see it in legislation banning fresh eggs and milk. You would have be truly blind not to at least suspect it.
 
If I could hear their call, I could tell easily if they're Bobwhite quail. Bobwhites have a distinctive two-note call that sounds (to us English-speaking Westerners) like their name: "Bob. . . White." The first note is lower in pitch and a bit longer than the second.

They call to other members of their covey (group), especially during mating in the spring. As a kid in Ohio I often woke up to their calls from the fields outside my window. When we hunted them in the fall, the coveys would scatter as they flushed; and if you remained still and silent for a while, you would hear them calling to get their covey back together. They're fast fliers and hard to hit, even with a shotgun.

We don't have them wild in Alaska. I really miss hearing their calls and hunting them in the fall.

Interesting. I had heard that some hens will not lay eggs without a rooster around, others will, but if you want regular eggs, you really need the rooster. And I heard that just the physical presence of the rooster will do it, no breeding required, and no one knows if its his strut, his comb, his pheromones, his crow or what.

But if I can get eggs without the rooster, its sounding much more likely I may do this. I have lived next to roosters too many times in my life. I HATE those GD noisy things. If there should be a law, it should be that they all have to have their voiceboxes removed if they live within 100 yards of a neighbor. They don't crow at sunrise. They start sqwacking a while after midnight. Surprised I never throttled one.

As far as i know Chickens lay eggs without roosters but the eggs will not hatch, But maybe some types do not lay eggs without roosters.

Lmao, i agree and that's why i don't have rooster, It's noisy, But i noticed something really interesting, When chickens don't have rooster they don't feel safe, Also some of them started acting like a rooster, When i feed them the rooster usually makes sound to tell the chickens that there is a food, lately two chickens started making a similar sound when i bring food.
Plus, When you catch or chase a chicken, the rooster will try to free it, Now one of my chickens is doing the same !

Hezam, that bird on the left looks something like a female or immature bobwhite, but the two-note call it's making is too soft and low. (Then again, they're in a small pen.) The bobwhite's call is sharper, louder, and more like a whistle. I can do a fair imitation by whistling through my lips, and I've had wild quail respond.

Bobwhites are often pen-raised and their breasts are served in restaurants in the US. Two summers ago, I heard one in the grass airstrip next to my house. They can't survive our Alaska winters, so it had to have escaped from someone's pen. The largest populations live in the southern US.
