Forum bugs?

I've noticed in the last few days that when i'm replying to a post or leaving reputation for someone, the page will revert to the post I was previously looking at (and trying to reply to), or that the reputation box will suddenly disappear. Is this a Forum problem, do you think, or perhaps a problem with my own PC?

Also, when one clicks on the 'today's posts' bar, quite often it lists the most recent post as one that hasn't had a reply for weeks, months, or even years, actually. What's the deal there, I wonder?

many times old posts pop up because they are a poll and someone voted on it, but did not post. I guess the "vote" counts as a new post. I haven't given rep lately, so not sure on that. I do know I can not have any "pop-up" blockers turned on , or things don't work right here on JREF? I'll give some rep and see if it acts wonky.

It may have to do with the way that your browser caches each page, in thee olden days of the internet you only wanted information from a page when absolutely necessary, but these days everyone should hopefully be off modems, so you should set your browser to refresh every time you visit a page, instead of the other settings available.

And Frank answered the question about why old threads popped up... if I had my way, old threads would lock themselves after so many months or years of unuse, and polls would would never age (bump) a thread... but eh, just a consequence of this particular brand of message board.

Many thanks for the answers - it's pretty clear now that you explain it that a vote on a poll bumps a thread on the list of 'today's latest posts' isn't it?

Guess that's just how things work - at least it shows that these old threads are still interesting to people.

Hmm, perhaps my other problem is something to do with my browser settings, though it's the first time it's happened and things otherwise work smoothly (running Firefox over an 8mb connection). It hasn't happened for a day or so, so fingers crossed|!
