AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRGGGGHHHHHHHHHHh I want Japanese Ramen from the ramen caravan in Fukuoka on the corner of the river and Nakasa (sp...) anyway the red light area. The most lively people dine there on the little plastic chairs slurrping up those fantastic noodles. Yum they are really really really good! And they give you free top up of noodles. Hmm at least I think they are free..? Was a bit too drunk to remember, but anyway they were great! Anyone else been there?
Right on the edge of the red light area, and the river, which is adjacent to the road which heads to Tenjin.... Near the big shopping complex (but on the other side of the road...) with the 10am fountain show.

Well, I DO love ramen, and was hesitant to join this thread so soon after it's revival, but I'm ready to do so now.
My favorite spot for ramen in LA is called Daikokuya (website here). They use the tonkotsu style broth that I favor and have a delicious chahan side dish. Their tsukemen is decent, but I really prefer the ingredients combined.
In Tokyo, I tend to hit places like Tenkaippin (a chain), Ippudo (near Waseda U), and my former favorite, Kokuran (which serves Kyushu style ramen), which has unfortunately closed or relocated. Kokuran's karamen (spicy ramen) was 700 yen, and kaidama (noodle refill) was 120. The last time I was in Japan, I discovered Hiroshima style and really enjoyed it. When I was a student there, we found a place that served all-you-can-eat ramen (just the noodles) for about 800 yen. It was just decent, but certainly satisfied all involved.
I tend to like my noodles hard (katamen) and places like Ippudo offer a variety of degrees of hardness. How about you guys?

Yum! I Looooooooooove Kakuni Mentaiko! That picture makes me miss it more! Im really going to have to hunt down some decent ramen shops here in Seoul. Koreans tend to think that Katsudon will be sufficient enough for the majority of the japanese restaruants.
My friend and I are thinking of opening up a drinking caravan at night with good food... that sort of thing could be on the menu!
I like my noodles anyway at all... I used to hate packet noodles, but im accustomed to them now.
