Fishing

I just know someone is going to ask...........

freshwater or ocean fishing. Flyfishing or trolling or deepwater? With a guide or without? Probably better ask about licenses and cost and where a foreigner can go to fish. Boy , when you think about something as simple as fishing , there sure are a lot of details to think about. I wonder if you could have what you catch shipped home? I wonder if you could get a trophy fish mounted and shipped home? How about , can you bring your own fishing gear from the states into Japan?
I wonder if we have any fishing experts here who can answer these type questions?

AFAIK, Tsukiji fishmarket is the best place to go. The clerks will even pack your fish for proper air transport if you buy it on the day of departure.

The only other place I know of is the fishing pond near Ichigaya Station. You pay a fee to rent a pole and try to catch whatever is stocked in the pond.

If you do a search in the search box above, you'll find other suggestions

There is "sea fishing Park" in each place in Japan.

Yokohama Port Daikoku Fishing Park

ChibaI@chihara-shi fishing Park

Fukuoka Kitakyuushuu-shi Hiakari fishing Park

Hey, what's the best place to fish in California and Oregon combined? That's how silly the question is on a geographic scale. Uncle Frank has covered the other practical aspects.

Perhaps your best bet is this site. (You're going to kick yourself for not typing in "fishing in Japan" into a Google search)
