Finding performance venues?

Hi,
I am a performer who lives in Canada and I have a Japanese partner who lives in Tochigi. I'm planning to go to Japan for three months at the end of January. I am looking for any opportunities I can find to perform in Japan; cabarets, festivals, independent theatres, bars, schools daycares etc. Anything.
We would really appreciate it, if anyone could give us suggestions on places in Japan where we could perform..

If you get money for such things, you are considered working, and that would not be legal without a work visa (entertainer visa). Have you thought of that?

If your Japanese "partner" is your spouse, you can do it with a spousal visa. Not sure of your meaning of "partner".

Yes the plan is to get an entertainer's working visa.

Do you know the guidelines to do that?

I've been on these forums for over 15 years. Too many people ask questions like yours withOUT having done their homework. That's why I ask. My questions were not meant to sound condescending. Please understand that. I mean, you didn't even mention visas in your initial query. You might be surprised to know that many people feel like they can just come here and play in a band anywhere, for example, and not even think of a work visa.

As for the link to immigration guidelines, if you plan to work here, and you understand that you need a work visa, then that site is one of the most important ones you will need because it explains what is needed for obtaining a work visa. Specifically, here:

This is the site where most people seem to go for such information:

...but it has woefully been pared down with far less information than people need, so I rarely post it anymore and give the other one instead.

And, yes, in a sense, you are immigrating here, even if only for 3 months. People can't just drop in for a week, a month, or 3 months and just start working (or immediately get a work visa). Getting the visa takes time (2-8 weeks).

Frankly, and you may not know this, but you are darned lucky that there is a work visa for that short period of time. It began only a year ago (July, 2012, to be exact).

Because I didn't come here to ask for visa advice!

Look, I understand that you are trying to be helpful and I appreciate that. But giving an unsolicited lecture on visa and immigration policy and ignoring the question I came here to ask is not helpful.

But to ease your mind, yes I have reviewed the information on those websites already. I understand what is required to obtain a visa. I have no intention of just cluelessly showing up at the border without any documentation. This is not my first rodeo.

Fine. How was I (or anyone) to know how much you had looked stuff up? Try to see things from my perspective.
