Favourite Places In Japan?

Hey everyone,
I've been planning out where to teach, but there's too many places to check out! Where are all of your guys's favourite places in Japan? I've been looking at Fukushima, and to be honest I'm falling in love with it, it's just so beautiful, and in an earlier post, I read that their women are very hot , so anyways let me know where you guys like! Be it for women, the beauty of the town, the technology, the atmosphere, anything!

Anywhere you go will be awesome

It's good that you're looking at places other than Tokyo Osaka Nagoya and other big cities though! I was talking to this dude here in Japan the other day, and he told me that the biggest piece of advice he would give to foreigners coming to Japan to live for the first time would be not to live in the big cities.

Hrm. I dunno where I like though. Shikoku is pretty fun. There's like. Nothing there. Kyuusyuu anywhere is nice too. It would be awesome to go to Aomori. I have never been there but I hear the dialect is ridiculous. "zuuzuu ben"

I'll have to agree with you, no matter where I end up in Japan, I'm sure it'll be awsome, living the dream and all. And also, I have no intention of living in the big cities, I heard it's just so ridiculously expensive. I'm sure I'll visit Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya etc, but maybe something in between the beautiful of Japanese nature and technology would be ideal. So pretty much, again, I agree, even a dump with shady people and terrible weather would be awsome, since it's Japan and not this town

I love all the major cities/touristy places Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka etc...but I know a lot of people in Sapporo so I have a connection up there. Its a surprisingly nice city...although it doesnt have many distinguishing features. The weather in the summer makes up for that...hehe

More narrowly what sort of technology are you looking for and you may find more takers. Akita and Hokkaido have probably been spared the least major commercial development of the Toukoku region if you're talking about the difference between standard wooden telephone poles and bridges running across farm, timberland and mountains vs. high tension power lines, roads leading nowhere or dolled up steel suspension bridges draped over a creekbed with absolutely no purpose but providing jobs for the construction lobby. :angryfire:

Shorinjikempo honbu on Shikoku would be at the top of my list, then northern Tokyo, more specifically the small river running under Ouji station. In April when the cherry blossoms along side the river bloom its like a tunnel of pink blossom above and a gentle stream below, doesnt feel like the city at all.

I went to Fukuoka for a month through my college... it seemed to be very nice city not bombarded by tourism. I met many people there and had a good time.

I live in Himeji, which is a nice city to live in. But if I had my choice, I would go for either Kyoto or Nara to live in. Probably Nara would be number one, it is the smaller of the two and therefore has that nice small city atmosphere to it. Its an ancient city with so many fantastic and beautiful historical sites that you could spend years exploring the place and still not discover all of the wonders the city has to offer. Its also a pretty green city by Japanese standards. Plus its not too far a commute to Osaka, so if you ever do want to do "big city" stuff, its pretty convenient too. Kyoto is the same, with literally thousands of temples, shrines, castles, imperial villas, museums, etc. to explore, but it is a much bigger city and the downtown core has a very cold, unwelcoming feel to it brought on by all the concrete and asphalt.

If you are a foreigner and inexperienced in Japan, the cities would be best as opposed to the countryside and small villages....But hey, villages can be fun! A friend of mine went to a small town up north (can't remember the name of the town), and she was the only foreigner...The students and neighbours came up to her in the evenings just to chat and practice English and take pictures of her because it had been a long time they had seen a foreigner... She loved the work there but felt lonely sometimes... Hence, the big city should be good if you want to meet up with other foreigners - there are countryclubs and such in the cities...

i agree but i still would like to see all the sights tokyo, osaka,sapporo but i would prefer to move to somewhere nice and quite, like kyushu,
