I'm gonna have to see Dark Star, although it sounds similar in ways to the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which I noticed someone quoted in another thread. "the answer is 42"

I liked Bueller, and I liked Dune because you only really understand it if you read the book (I think)...others are:

My favourite all time movie is probably Terminator 2, I grew up watching that over and over, it always just seemed totally perfect. Terminator 3 on the other hand is on the other side of the scale....Jonathan Mostow is a silly man.

Doesn't anyone here know who Wong Kar-wai is?

FALLEN ANGELS is a great film. If not my absolute favorite, it's up there. Anyone who likes foreign films, jazz, Hong Kong, and Cowboy Bebop, you must see this movie.

Oh yeah, my sympathies go out to the DUNE fans. I love those books so much, but neither of the movies did them any justice.

Just saw The Last Samurai and I must admit I was floored... This movie is truly phenomenal and I highly recommend it to anyone even remotely interested in Japan. Cruise was great as usual and Koyuki was a pleasant suprise as well... but Ken Watanabe's performance was Oscar-worthy imho... Two thumbs up!


Oh yeah, before I forget.. I should also add both Seabiscuit and Open Range to my list of all-time favs.

Just saw Return of the King on opening day and I must admit I thought the film really lived up to all the hype. By far the best of the trilogy, RotK really brings the storyline all together giving a nice sense of closure at the end. A little long in some parts but a must see for any Tolkien fan or a fan of the genre imho.

another one ive forgotten to mention earlier is Harold and Maude - the greatest love story in movie history!!! and its such a funny film

i heard that in singapore (i think it was singapore anyway) the film was literally cut in half! (just like some of the characters i guess! )

lol that must have been terrible to watch... you'd have no idea what was happening...as there'd just be random scense after each other..
and speaking of being cut in half... in the comics (and the anime film), the death scene with the guy cut in half was actually the original death for Kakihara, but when Takashi Miike changed to ending, he decided to keep the death in, just giving it to the wife beater bloke instead...

interesting! that was probably a good call - it wouldnt really suit the ending...a bit too cartoony maybe...it is a pretty funny scene tho with the wife beater!

Now Im just waiting for february, when the Last Samurai will come to theatres here in FIN. Too bad I have to go and see it by myself, for some reason my friends dont want to see it, either because it has Tom Cruise in it, or because its about Japanese things...I guess they just dont understand about good things
