would you check my exercise?

1 Translate into Japanese.

①"Do you ever go to rock concerts?" "No, never."

②I don't know where these people come from.

③I took it for granted that my mother cooked us meals every day.

④He spends as much as 80 % of the money he earns on gambling. (spend A on B = AをBに使う)

⑤Although I visited Mary's house twice today, unfortunately I wasn't able to meet her.

⑥Japanese car makers manufacture millions of cars annually. (manufacture = 製造する)

⑦Scientists discovered a planet about the size of Earth. (discover =発見する)

⑧His poor Japanese makes it difficult for him to get a good job in Japan.

⑨Take Japan, for example. It developed dramatically after the second World War.

2 Put the words in the correct order.
①私たちは、近所の店でいつも十分な食料が手に入ることを当たり前だと思っています。

1 through 9 are correct except:

④ no gap between 80 and % --> 80%

⑤Although I visited Mary's house twice today, unfortunately I wasn't able to meet her.

change to:

Although I visited Mary's house twice today, I wasn't able to meet her.

or

I visited Mary's house twice today, but unfortunately I wasn't able to meet her.

How about these sentences?
①私たちは、近所の店でいつも十分な食料が手に入ることを当たり前だと思っています。
We take it for granted that we can always get enough food in the nearby stores.

②毎年シンガポールには何百万人の人が訪れる。
Singapore is visited by millions of people every year.

③窓を開けると、地面が雪に覆われていた。
I opened the window only to find the ground covered with snow.

④世界中の食品の３分の１もの量が捨てられている。[文頭の語も小文字になっているので注意]
As much as one third of the food in the world is thrown away.

⑤彼の発音が悪いので、彼は日本人との意思疎通が難しい。
His bad pronunciation makes it difficult for him to communicate with Japanese people.

Sensei!

All are correct, but I want to discuss ③ "I opened the window only to find the ground covered with snow."

This is correct but it sounds more like written English than spoken English. The spoken English forms would be:

A. "I opened the window only to find the ground was covered with snow."
B. "I opened the window only to find that the ground was covered with snow."
C. "I opened the window only to see the ground was covered with snow."
D. "I opened the window only to see that the ground was covered with snow."
E. "I opened the window, but when I did, I saw that the ground was covered with snow."

E is most common, D is second best, but A, B, and C are also correct.
