We would have expected more such cases brought to court as of 2018; this one, however, is based on the fact that the teacher was unable to read his contract which was presented to him in Japanese language only. Again, never sign anything you are not able to fully comprehend.

I'm wondering whether his case will stand any chance at court.

Yikes, that's some bad-faith stuff right there. The headline seems to indicate that he was dismissed a day before the requirement would've been met, but the article doesn't mention his dismissal, and suggests that it was simply that they changed the length of the contract and didn't inform him of the changes aside from giving him the untranslated contract.

bait and switching a non-native speaker by sneaking changes into an untranslated renewal contract is still pretty reprehensible.

I wonder when his lessons changed to e-learning and if perhaps the school pushed for that as well or if the individual did.
