Elitist and Rabid Fangirls (or boys)

Nana007 said:
I listen to alot of other types of music than JRock or specifically VK. So you really shoudn't generalize.
I don't think I am generalizing when I say that 98% of the threads on the first page of this forum are JRock threads, and that a good 5-6 of those threads are simply So and So of le Bons Mots du Temps Pretençion is Soooooh Cute!!!!!~1 threads written by the so-called rabid fans this thread discusses.

It makes the forum fairly useless for anyone who isn't a) 16 years old or b) a so-called rabid Jrock fan, or god help us, a bit of both.

I am not 16, and I am not rabid..and yet, I post here. GASP! I think you are just having a wee bit of a close minded issue. :?

I am not 16 years old either. And yea you do have a few threads like that, but if you actually go into an artists thread most (except for miyavis  ) has actual discussions on the 😲 music. And while I used to participate in all those whos the hottest, sexiest, lately I have been getting tired of it and the recent influx of fangirls that a few months ago this thread seemed to lack.

I think even if we split Jrock into it's own forum (something I am for) that you'll still have these types of threads being made--- and it's difficult to dictate to people what types of threads they can write, but I would imagine as you say, it must get boring for those who read this sub-forum daily to read the same types of threads. I guess we'll see.

Damn, I wrote the longest post and got logged out. Lucky for you.

Anyway I'm a bit of a fangirl, I do obsess and I do call names at concerts. I don't see what's wrong with that, because these are people that I look up to.

I'd also say that it's okey to split j-rock from western music(by tagging or whatever the **** you call it) because it is different FROM WESTERN MUSIC.
Don't get me wrong, j-rock is mainstream music in japan, but I've never heard anything that isn't at least asian that sounds like j-rock.
Also, people into rock and punk (here) thinks that j-rock is basically about guys who dress like girls who can't play their instruments, so lumping the fans of these genres into one pile gets a bit confusing.
Frankly, I don't care if it's good or bad. I like it, so I listen to it. If someone asks I usually say I listen to japanese rock or hard-pop or pop.
I wouldn't say that's got anything to do with racism or elitism...

And to keep on topic as well: carving stuff into your arm is just ******* stupid. My opinion can not be turned on this.

Assides from being musicians from another country who don't know you? I uh, guess nothing.

I'm talking about splitting JRock from Jpop/etc, because you have to sort through 300 Jrock threads to find a single thread about indies music, jpop, etc...

No, it's not really mainstream in Japan, not in the slightest... I mean, it's not indies music, but do you know how much it's played on the radio, on television, how many visual people you see in the streets? It's not by any means mainstream....

Those people don't understand that Japan is basically a nation where style and content have no meaning when talking about music... a guitar is not always a guitar, sometimes it's just a prop.

I personally think everyone has a small titty bit of a fangirl/boy in them. It's human nature to think so & so is hot/sexy/cute/handsome. That's just my 2 cents though.

Yeah, what Joy said..it doesn't make us weird, it just makes us fans. This topic is talking about it reaching an extreme.

But when Jrock fans take it to the extreme... look out! ;)

I love how little fangirls try to use the bandmembers real names and mess it up big time. I guess it just makes them feel at one with a certain member when they use their real name or make up a nickname. I am so tired of Totchi its not even funny! They have stage names for a reason.

I don't like Totchi either. I'd rather call him Toshiya...Totchi sounds rather..strange to me. :?

I still don't see the problem with the name calling, it's like cheering right?
"You're doing it right, I think you're great".
And the j-rock- j-pop thing, yeah, I know it's ******* stupid and it's sad for the jpop fans, but it just so happens that there are not enough fans of Ayumi, Hikaru Utada, Morning Musume, W-inds and the likes on this forum for those threads to live...
I guess liking j-pop is just a more special interest than j-rock. If you go to the Broken Mirror forums they have split it, but the jpop forum has like two threads....

And hey, I learned something new :D I was so sure jrock had to be mainstream, cause my magazines and stuff has soooooo many bands and it's so much about that genre, but I guess I was wrong then.

Yeah, it's human to think this and that person is pretty. What's stupid is to not admit it when you like someone for more than just the music (or even just for the looks and not the music).
But I agree it gets a bit stupid with so many threads with basically the same theme.

Agree on Totchi, I've never gotten that one. And Warumono for Kyo, that's just not very nice... I have to admit I have a tendency to call Daisuke(of Kagerou) Daisu though 😌
I would never say that to him(hell, I didn't dare say anything to him *hits self*), then I'd use his full name (or the stage name he's chosen, I'm not sure it's his real one).

I'm abit of a fanboy, but I don't go to 'extremes' as going randomly -
OMFG MIYAVI IS SOO HOOOOOTT!!! HAVE U SEEN HIS NEW LOOK, OMG HIS NEW SINGLE IS LOVE!! <33333333
(I'm not even much of a MYV fan o_O) XD
I think that is fangirl/boy-ism. But thinking whether or not a jrock artist is hot, isn't. It's just a personal opinion, really.

edit: Fangirls/boys tend to like the music just for the bands look alot, which is WRONG. [eg. Gackt, Miyavi, and sometimes Hyde, but Hyde's music is awesome though.]

<.< >.> <.<;; I WAS DRUNK WHEN THIS OCCURED! UNDERSTOOD?! Ok.

I once called Kyo Waru Kitty. :? Am I fixing to be exiled? :(

I like "Totchi". I sometimes call him Totchi, but I prefer Toshiya though

I don't like call Kyo "Warumono", I don't like how it sounds. Kyo is a beautiful name, I won't change it for Warumono.

I don't like the nicknames like Meevers, Kao Kao, Shin Shin, Totchi they are all stupid, I believe that nicknames are personal should only be used among family and friends, my nickname Nana holds a lot of meaning for me, I have been called Nana since I was three years old and the people who call me that are people I deeply love.

And I admit I have my fangirl moments, but really is it that bad to look at a picture and ogle it, its human nature to be attracted to beautiful things and many many many J-Rockers are very very very beautiful.

And I am one of those rare members that like J-Pop. I like Morning Musume, W, Koda Kumi, Utada Hikaru...but the majority of the people on this board like J-Rock.

i like j-pop too!

i really don't feel i have much say in this conversation...
and i respect what everyone fan here has to say
i have only realy started listening to j-rock for about 2 months....

i have heard stuff in the past but never had the acces to it as i do now

it seems that everday i find more and more bands and i am completly pleased with a lot of it!

i do go a bit fangirl but it's mostly @ home ^_^
if anyone here has more bands i can check out and where i can go
please GIMMIE!

oh and as for the nicknames..i don't really like them either and
also think they have a stage name for a reason...
but that's just me...

I like some Jpop songs too! though thats not really my taste XD!
I agree with the nicknames they sound kinda stupid sometimes, and I dont get the point on calling them like that!

I sometimes act Fangirlish but most of the time just for fun. Im not like that in real life haha *well sometimes but is rare on me* but I really think acting that way is funny :D on the other hand JREF and Anit pop are the only places where I can talk about jrock and act that way haha, because I think Im the only person in the whole city who likes this kind of music, and if there's someone else he/she is hidden couse I havent found anyone *its a really sad situation believe me* thanks god I love lots other kinds of music and artists mainly mexican so Im not alone in the universe.

I think Yukio Michael is being unfair. For the record, I am old (26), it is ten years since I have been schoolgirl. I don't appreciate being bundled in with "rabid fangirls" simply because I like j-rock and write comments about it in forums. :box:

It is true, there are some threads that just say "sexiest" or "prettiest" or whatever; to be honest, once I have said my opinion I find those threads a bit boring. If it's boring to me, I don't bother to visit it. End of story. It doesn't take that much figuring out. :cautious:

But looking at pictures ain't so bad, is it? How many guys have some posters or pictures of sexy girls somewhere around in their house or like to take a look at sexy pictures every now and again? (I don't mean porn, I mean just bikini pics or something.) Well, do you think the females in this forum (and there are actually not only females here either) have mags with pics of buff blokes tucked about the place? No. Why? Because this sort of place has "our" eye candy. It's our equivalent of the Pirelli calendar. We find the guys attractive.

If you think I'm talking crap, go visit the Entertainment Gallery in this forum and look at the pics there. Y'know, the ones of scantily-clad girls. Then stand up and tell women we're shallow to like pictures.

On a more mellow note, I personally LOVE THE MUSIC. Well, the music of certain bands, so I post about them and ignore threads about bands I don't like. The reason I don't post about j-pop is because I'm not that keen on pop music (I like some pop-ish stuff, but in general it just doesn't appeal to me as much.)

Well said. 👍 That's about the size of it. It's as simple as that: people will post about what they are interested in; if there becomes many j-pop fans on here, well then, those threads will become dominant.

Um, on other subjects... the carving of "Dir en grey" words, I agree also with Dollporn on that... it's not good to hurt yourself... :( It is one of those things that many people do, but that doesn't make it ok. 😭 (And I am not saying I have never done it, although never such thing as band name. O_o)

Nicknames, I don't use them. I don't know why but I just don't feel like it's respectful to the person. But to shout out their name at a concert or something, that's normal though isn't it? ☝ It's just a way of showing your support. :)

Yea Kinsao/Coshh and here eloquently typed posts. You always make a good point.
