Hey guys. im in love with ebi mentaiyaki and would really love to learn the recipe to make it. Anyone out there with the know-how can please so kindly share it with me? Haha thankssss! ;)

Maybe it's because I don't frequent izakayas, but the name doesn't ring a bell.

The name is not popular enough to be a name for a standard recipe.

Can you provide more info and preferably a photo?

there you go,the picture. its the creamy acidic, cod roe's infused topping that im really into. anyone, any idea?

My guess is a mixture of mayo & mentaiko (cod roe spiced with salt & chili)...?

My guess is that the topping is a mixture of mentaiko (hot-pepper flavored "tarako" or cod roe), mayonnaise (the tangy Japanese type such as Kewpie Mayonnaise and not the milder American type) with a dash of light-colored soy sauce ("usukuchi-shoyu"). This is called "mentai mayonnaise."

Simply cover prawn (precooked if very large) with a layer of the mayonnaise and grill.

This can be used in various ways--mixed with pasta, as topping for baked or boiled potatoes, etc.

If mentaiko is not available, you can use tarako (salted cod roe) instead. Add hot pepper to taste.
Also, you can add more vinegar to American mayonnaise if Kewpie is not available.

If it's not mentai mayonnaise, I have no idea... 😌
