Dual Citizenship and WORK

After living in the US all my life, i decided to pick up my things and try and see if i can make it in japan. i have dual citizenship, and from what i heard, i need a jyuuminhyou in order to work. SO when i went to the japanese city coucil or whatever they said that i can get one. BUT they told me that i needed to give up one of my citizenships (i thought it was only highly suggested but they made it seem like a requirement) They also told me that if i were to get this jyuuminhyou, I would have to pay the tax in Japan as well as the U.S., and also to get insurance... has anyone ever been in this situation before??? If so can you lemme know what im supposed to do??

I dont want to give up either citizenship because i dont know what i want to do in life yet... so yeah... thanks!

I am pretty sure you must renounce one of your citizenships. And if you are a US citizen then you should not have to pay any US income taxes, as long as you don't make yen worth more than something like 85,000USD a year.

That is crazy and they don't know what they are talking about. How do they kno wyou have dual citizenship? Many of my dual citizenship friends returned to Japan and are working with no problem. I don't know why they picked on you. The government is even considering legalizing dual nationality. Go to another ward office and apply.
