when somoene comments your posts, negatively especially and doesn't have the face to say who she/he is ? I got one recently, a negative one, needless to say I didn't appreciate it, but still i brushed aside especially since the person who commented me didnt let me know who s/he was. Well, personally this is just how i feel, if somone wants to use the rating system, they should tell one who they are.

What do you others think ?

I've been lucky, my negative rep came from new people , who I guess didn't know I joke around. 2 points or 1 point neg rep are bearable. I think most of us who have been on for a bit know you DON'T use Negative rep points just cause you disagree. To the best of my recollection, I've only given neg rep 5 times in almost 2 years. And, you can always ask admin to erase undeserved points against you.

Yeap, I agree with you.
It's only fair to identify oneself when commenting on a post.
Especially if it's a negative one, because that's when some real serious talk and thinking can happen.
Better still is to do it in a post, but some people might consider that overly confrontational, and prefer PM.
But it doesn't have to be.
People can have differences, and can go over the line sometimes.

I'd say whoever gave you the anonymous bad rep., (s)he was not too comfortable about doing it.
Fear of rejection or retaliation is a very common feeling.
To be mature enough to leave one's id means there is a strong sense of trust in humanity.
I don't think you're nuts, and I don't think I am either.
There is the unspoken contract of trust, borrowing from Mandylion/PachiPro's thread, and we can be cool.

Just think that the person did not believe (yet!) in that social contract, and don't let it bother you.

I agree with Duo, actually somebody gave me a bad rep before coz I posted my opinion about GOD, but I dont know who gave me that Badrep.

Is it possible to put some restriction in giving points? like automatically appear the user name in every rep comments we will give. :?

Duo, I have just checked your reputation comments (can't see if the rep given is positive or negative though) and I can't find any recent ones unsigned with a negative comment. Watch out that if you get a "blue dot", the rep is 0 because the users doesn't have enough rep. him/herself. The intended rep could be either positive or negative.

It's like giving a kid a joint to try, y'know. You do it under circumstances you control, in an environment you manipulate, cops aren't involved, and no one gets hurt. Yeah.
