i really like how MAZE and PIG sounded!! i cant wait for my single!! haha i want to hear the conga drums in Maze soo bad!! i still think its funny how Tsukasa and Karyu were wondering how conga drums would sound in MAZE lol and they put it in there. hmm...kind of curious to hear that whole song
 
I just listened to the samples. I like the sound of PIG the best. Hizumi's voice sounds wonderful. The single has a different feel from their previous work. I don't know, I don't hear the pop on the Kogoeru Yoru ni Saita Hana. It's just not as hard as their older songs. I'm just going to try and ignore the dumb fangirls on other forums. Besides, I think it's good for them to try different sounds every now and then, it keeps the music fresh and not sounding the same. :-) Actually, it kind of reminds me of rock in the 60's.


Anyways, it's a 30 second sample, so I can't make any final decisions about whether or not I like it or don't like it.

Thanks for posting! I've been curious about finding out how the new music sounds. 😄

Maybe it's just me getting old. :( It seems like a lot of the stuff that would have been 'rock' when I was at school is now classified as 'pop', and some of the stuff that was 'metal' has been kind of 'down-graded' to 'rock'. I'm getting soft in the ears... :unsure: But I still think this is rock!
Anyway, who cares as long as it's a good song. :-) I think it sounds good so far! :)

I agree. It's not pop... and I also agree with what you say about the 'old' rock is now considered pop... I classify a lot of bands I hear as 'rock' that are classified as 'pop' from mainstream generals... But Kogoeru Yoru ni Saita Hana single (from what I have heard so far) is not pop... it is clearly rock to me... Sorry if I'm only repeating what others before me had previously stated.
I can't stop listening to all of the samples... They're all so good... I'm going to try and get money somehow to pay for both versions of the single, The World Outside the Cage DVD, and PROTOPLASM single by RENTRER EN SOI... though I may switch PROTOPLASM with RES' new album coming up....
And end opinion. XD
 
Zero is very good at bass guitar, and that happens to be the instrument I know best. ZERO! <3

IMO the bass was more prominent in earlier D'espa songs... I think that's been said somewhere on this thread ... I still love all their stuff though :-)

Yeah I agree with Kinsao. I was probably the one that said it before. Despa's older stuff had way better bass parts. I don't know what happened. I actually think out of all the Jrock I listen to Zero might play the most simplest bass lines. (which is weird since despa is my favorite!) Now that doesn't mean he's bad or anything. I just like when the bass stands out a little more!

As much as I love Zero I don't think I would say he is one of the best bassists out of all the bands I listen to. Whatever he is doing is a great mix with D'espairsray though.

I'll hook you up with a 6-string haha. Those are hard for me to play because my hands are so tiny. We got a used one in at work the other day and man the neck is HUGE! I am ordering another bass and guitar next month =) (gotta love employee discounts!)

And I really hate to be off topic...but you michiganders should come see my band perform this friday! we do jrock covers...it will be awesome (but the show is in port huron...thats even far for me ~_~)

I honestly only like the clip of PIG... I'll have to wait till the single is released before I cast judgement. ^^;;;
 
I like how PIG is sounding a lot. It's hard to say with clips that are only 30 seconds long. Especially with Jrock because the song can change so many times. I can't wait for the single to be released (then I will finally have the DVD!) Hizumi's voice is sounding wonderful as usual.
 
Well, I just listened to the entire single. That's right, the entire single, not measly 30-second clips. I think people are insane. You can't judge a song based on 30 seconds! The songs PIG and MAZE sound exactly like something you would expect from D'espairsRay too! The only one slightly different is Kogoeru Yoru ni Saita Hana, but I still think it fits with them. What about Yami Ni Furu Kiseki? That was a slow song and different than what you would expect from them. This new single isn't even slow, it's more upbeat than their other stuff, and that's why people are saying it's pop. I love the synth in it, it's very New Wave sounding! The singing is incredible, and there's a really sweet break in the song that is a little harder. The song was amazing live. I think it has a lot of energy and the band emanated that. This song is super catchy, and I had it going through my head ever since the concert, but now it's going to be worse! I don't care what anyone thinks, this song is beautiful.

Now that I have heard the 4:32-5:00 long tracks I can give a better oppinion.

I think Maze and Pig could have easily been on Coll:set and it would have fit right in with all of the other tracks.

I happen to like the new single a lot. It is a great song for them to perform live. Everyone can sing along with it, and just picture Hizumi doing his little bob with his hand out in the air. It is upbeat, and will definitely get stuck in your head.

I think people are making judgements too soon! The songs are great. Trust me. I bet that when everyone gets the single they will be coming back here posting how awesome the songs are, then I will laugh at you j/k
 
wow...I just listened to the whole single...and it is simply amazing. It took my breath away O_O. Even though kogoeru is different, it is very good, and the single is very diverse....which is good...haha.
I remember hizumi before they played kogoeru, "This next song...Is new song...I think you like it!"

I love the little bass lead in Maze...this whole single is very impresive...I will stop rambling now XD

Arrrrghh! I haven't got the new single yet, and now I have read about it, I am going to go insane waiting! :banghead: The anticipation is killing me!

I just listened to the single... I got it last night but I was too sick and tired to give it a proper listen so I held off. Yikes... I know I'm ill when I can go to sleep without hearing new D'espairsRay stuff... haha. I'm glad I reserved my judgement till I heard them in their entirety. I still think PIG is the best song. So delish and such hot vocals... I was totally... err... melting... ? ...yea, melting... haha. It's more to my taste and liking then the others. MAZE is a close second though. I love that bit in the middle that starts around 2:45... that was refreshing *can't think of a better word*. Kogoeru Yoru ni Saita Hana in it's own right is good. I believe it'll take a few more listens to get used to it... it's super catchy though! *dances*
