I can only find listings for Tokyo.

Well, I've been to probably two dozen or more photography exhibitions in the past year local to my prefecture (and maybe two adjoining ones, None of the other arts (oils/watercolors, india ink, etc), and not the bigger shows at the bigger couple of museums in town. Most of the PR is done via postcards, distributed thru local channels.
Frankly, for all the different arts there are, all over the country, something national would be horribly cluttered and unusable without some filters. The information is out there, you just need to improve your google-fu, and how you search for it. (Rather than asking, "why isn't some site bringing all this together for me?" --without doing the work on your own.)

Really? Why would that be so? Other countries group such info by city or region or whatever. A photography filter is easily applied, or one for contemporary art .
I wasn't asking you to do it. just if someone more in the know could offer link if such a site exists. Similar to Time Out, yet for the country. sure i can and will search for shows by catagory or city if there's no other solution. Thanks for the input.

We maintained an event calendar for Japan-related events in the early 2000s. Keeping it updated was horribly time-intensive, and we soon gave it up.
We are currently awaiting the release of an "Event Management System" (EMS), an add-on that would allow us to set up a category-based event calendar. I'm still considering whether to launch it, as it would depend on community input. As knowledge extraction without contribution has become the new standard in the age of social media and AI, I'm not very optimistic.
