they certainly are not equal fields. In many cases science contradicts religion so you can see how there are alot of people who have a problem accepting both. Some people are committed to their faith and they will not accept these contradictions and will side with their religion. Having an educator tell their young student that we decended from apes when they don't belive that is wrong. All I am saying here is that their approach is all wrong.
They never say things like "Many scientists believe..." or "Theoretically...". They say things like "Man is a decendent of an ape." I don't have a problem with kids being tested on "popular scientific ideas" because they should be known. There is a big difference between fact and theory.
