Could someone translate these?

Note: "Kasa-hari" is piecework popularly associated with masterless samurais (ronin) who pasted oiled paper on wooden umbrella frames to earn money. (Umbrellas did not last long because of the material, and there was quite large demand for them.)

I'm going to try to guess: To think I would be in the same class as Reiko again, I'm going to remember this one year.

Is that right?
 

Not really, sorry. It means something like "To think I'm in the same class as Reiko again, I'm worried about this year." But that's a crappy translation, so I'd put something more like this: "I'm in Reiko's class again?! This year's going to suck." Of course, I don't know if the speaker doesn't like Reiko or why he's worried about the new year, so I can't speak much for the appropriateness of this version either.

Hmmm I guess not. Then well anyway I got three(With the bottom being the toughest ones I asked for help with so far.) more translation requests. Here they are:

Ok I got like a slightly(As in not THAT huge) bigger request right here that I can't translate for the life of me. Here it is:

It says "Nanase's cold glance, which can feel pretty good when it becomes a habit, is [something] my eyes." There seems to be some kind of typo though, because 貴いている is not in any of the dictionaries I checked. 貴い is, but it is an adjective meaning "precious". You might want to verify that it's the right kanji. Also, you might get more help if you translated stuff other than dating sims.

About your earlier question on translating tips: I don't really have anything that I would call a tip. All I do is read the text a few times to understand what's going on (using a dictionary for unknown words/phrases; also Google is your friend), then try to express the same idea in English. I'm not sure how good my results are; if I wanted to do this professionally, I'd have a long way to go.
 
My first guess would be that it's a typo for 貫いている -- the character is similar enough to be confused, the -て form of the verb fits, and it would make sense in the context here.

Personally, my number one "tip" for the original poster would be to ditch the J-E/E-J dictionaries for a good 国語辞典 (like this free online one). If your Japanese isn't at the level where you feel comfortable using a native-language dictionary, then I would focus more on improving your Japanese than on "translating."

Not that translating isn't an effective study method, but it seems to me like you (DingoEnder) are more interested in just getting English translations of these sentences you post than actually building up your understanding of Japanese sentence structure and vocabulary. Maybe that's not being fair to you, but generally you've been posting these huge chunks of text and just saying "someone translate this for me." Why not make more of an effort to translate it yourself and then check here to see if you've gotten it right? Your Japanese is never going to get any better if you don't challenge yourself.

If you're having trouble with Japanese grammar and sentence structure, it'd be a good idea to pick up some good grammar references too, like this:

I'm also not real inclined to work out a detailed rendering of this until more thought is put in by Diego. So this is a rough sketch....but here we go, all the way to Tokyo....

All of the desires and despairs of this world are promised in the megapolis of Tokyo. They extend to its farthest ends. An artificial island through which people do not go (commute ?). Now, there are simply frozen cold concrete souls in gentle slumber. But the day is rapidly approaching when the sultriness will accumulate and the city will awaken from its long sleep. From the north, from the south, from the east and from the west, over the sea and across mountains right now people are aiming at this island. 200,000 of them. For only one purpose, they gamble their entire youths. And so, even here man's fate withers. (The first of the last sentence たっと一人 bit I guess I don't get). There must not have been concern about the details :?

Clearly there are 誤訳の部分 , but it was useful for me and I hope for someone else now as well.
 
As Nagashima-san suggests, this long text is a description of the excitement building with the opening of the Comic Market (Comike) held at Tokyo Big Sight on the reclaimed waterfront area of Tokyo. So, it is a description of only one location, not a general description of Tokyo.

So, Elizabeth's translation is generally good, needing slight revisions only to match the image of youths rushing to the market held on that island.

As jt_san suggests, you can't get to do translations with just a few "tips." It is the product of hard work and concentration and study into the Japanese culture, both past and present. Ganbatte-ne!

Yes, and there was one man led to the place by destiny... Maybe, he's the only one thinking that way...but he wasn't supposed to mind such details!!

「たっと」のことですが、どらえもんでそれに出てわたしたと思いますが、「って、と」じゃなくて「たっと」を
使いますか？

Well it looks like I got quite a response from my last question. Thanks for the help again. I'll be sure to use that one dictionary one of your recommended. Anyway to hopefully better improve my translating skills I've decided(thanks to some advice on here.) to start putting down my attempts to translate my requests more often.

Starting with these:

……そんなことばかり聞いてると、かえって嫌われると思うけど。軽々しく聞くようなことじゃないわ。
"........If you keep asking me that I think I'll just be hating you all the more. Don't ask me in such a thoughtless way."


こんなところで会うなんて偶然ね。
"Well how unexpecting to meet you in a place like this."
(I just know that can sound better but I can't think of anything else right now.)

偶然という名の必然。それは、二人を引き寄せる運命……
"unexpecting is just inevitable. This is just fates way of pulling us in...."

So am on the mark or can those be improved?
 

Looks like you've got the meanings pretty well. I just have a couple comments.

1. "If you keep asking me that, I *will* start to hate you. It's not something you should ask frivolously." -- Japanese tend to soften statements with "to omou" more than English speakers uses "I think."

2. "What a coincidence, meeting you here." -- I think in this case, 'coincidence' is better than 'unexpected', but either one works.

3. "The inevitability named 'coincidence'. That is the fate which pulls the two [of us] together." -- It sounds like "futari" includes the speaker, but I'm not sure.

It depends on context--especially what is said before it. It is certainly a phrase to draw someone's attention, but it is very often translated differently to communicate the intention of the speaker. That's part of the reason why translation requires more than just looking at the definitions in a dictionary.
 
Hi, i know this is off the topic, but can anyone help me write these lines in kanji?
1. Believe (verb)
2. One big fight (fight in the context of a really intense championship game, not war anything)

Next quick question does that same thing applie for そんな? What would be a good translation for that one?
 
I think when it's uttered alone it's meant as an "oh no" type of phrase, so I would go with "oh no!"
 
All right my first request in like a week and a half.It's a simple one so here goes:

ちーっす。三河屋でーす。
"Hello. Delivery."

Is that right or did I misplace some Kanji in it?
 
I can't tell whether there had been a typo or misplaced kanji, but I can tell from experience that it's a typical greeting made by a delivery man (from a shop) when arriving at a customer's home.

ちーっす is most likely his own individual way of saying こんにちは （＝＞こんちは＝＞こんちはーっす＝＞ち－っす？？）

Mikawaya is a name very often used in drama/manga as the name of a "sakaya-san（酒屋さん）" (a shop telling liquors and canned and other non-fresh foods).
